Fred Kerber reports that soon after Memphis pulled its qualifying offer for Hakim Warrick, making him an unrestricted free agent, the Nets were among the first to call, with Rod Thorn admitting having “some” interest. Meanwhile, Glen “Big Baby” Davis‘ agent tells Kerber the Nets have “sincere” interest in his client. Davis is a restricted free agent and the Celtics have said they’ll match any reasonable offer.

Justin Poulin of Celtics Stuff Live reported a rumor that Glen Davis could be headed to New Jersey in a sign and trade.

He didn't have any additional details, but Alex of NES 24/7 heard the same rumor and indicated that Ainge was after Yi Jianlian. That would make some sense as Ainge was rumored to have liked Yi a lot a few drafts back.

There's a lot of names being brought up by Boston sources. According to Celtics Central, Ed Najera and Sean Williams could also get involved.

Actually i know this sounds weird of me after all that hating i did against Yi but i wouldn't go through with that .. Yi has improved over the past year, he brings mobility at the PF and SF positions.. even the Center. Davis is really restricted to PF and at that he is undersized .. i would like Davis on our squad but not for Yi.

As much as i hate Davis i'll disagree on that. I'd rather have Davis at that position than Yi simply for the fact that he has way more potential and is just built more like a big man that Yi is.

Though the Celts have attempted to include restricted free agent Glen Davis in several sign-and-trade deals with other teams, sources with the C’s and New Jersey shot down a rumor yesterday that both teams were attempting to make such an arrangement work.

Though the Nets have not approached Davis with an offer sheet, they have made their interest known in the young power forward - interest that still could emerge in the form of a sign-and-trade. Other potential suitors, including Detroit, have shied away from Davis with the belief the Celtics will match any offer under $5 million.
