Sħãlïq™
Why are so many teams using their away unis for home games? The Rockets vs the Raps tonight. The Clippers played in red vs. the Suns this week. The Magic used their black unis vs. the Spirs last week. And all at home games. I remember that for the last 10 years there was this All teams must use their lightest (white/yellow) uniform at home rule. Did the NBA change that rule?? Lkr
the only thing I could find on it was this article:http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/pages/landing_magic_blog?Black-Friday-Magic-unveil-new-alternate-=1&blockID=361123&feedID=The Magic are wearing it at home and away. The Bulls do the same thing with their black and green alternates too. Edited January 1, 2011 by Lkr
Nitro
I remember that for the last 10 years there was this All teams must use their lightest (white/yellow) uniform at home rule. Not true. I remember all the way back on X-Mas day 2003 the Magic wore their black uni's at home vs. the Cavs, and I've seen many, many teams use their away/alternate jersey's at home since then. The Great iBoldin
I'm about 90% sure they changed this year about two years ago. On ESPN's "sports design" page they mentioned something about it when the guy blogged about Orlando's new throwbacks. I'll try to find a link. Oliver P
Not true. I remember all the way back on X-Mas day 2003 the Magic wore their black uni's at home vs. the Cavs, and I've seen many, many teams use their away/alternate jersey's at home since then. In fact it even happened before that... I clearly remember that it already happened in the mid 90's. The first time I ever saw a team wearing its away jersey at home was in 95 or 96, it was a Rockets-Knicks game in the Madison. And the Knicks wore their blue jersey, I couldn't believe it at the time... And I have seen some other home teams wearing their away jerseys at least once a year since then so it's not new. It happened more often in the 2000's though. I think that it's because now teams have more jerseys then before (with the retro fashion and all...) and the NBA wants to show all his teams jerseys to the fans to sell more and more jerseys. So it's just business IMO. Edited January 1, 2011 by Oliver P
