htown11
Elaborate...why because I didn't think Fight Club was amazing? I thought the directing was great and the acting of Pitt and Norton (more so Norton) was even better, but the I think the movie would have been better without the twist tbh, altho I like it more at first, as I rewatched it I liked it less. Still 8/10 is a good grade. I thought he said double fail because the first couple images you tried to load up didn't show lol. 8/10 is a solid rating for Fight Club I think that's completely fair. http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/127_hours_poster_01-535x792.jpg 7.5/10 Pretty good, tough a great movie with just 1 actor but this found a way to keep you entertained for an hour and a half and keep you wanting more. I would have liked to see more at the end, but what you get is what you get, great story. One of my favorite movies of the year, I have never seen Franco play such a great role I was impressed. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_npCa0ZKo4i8/SiBpOE2HqfI/AAAAAAAAAb0/ZTtsKFRBtec/s400/city_island.jpg 7.7/10 very funny So underrated, very good comedy saw it on NetFlix couple weeks ago. Today I watched True Grit. It was released today in France and I came back from the theater a couple of hours ago. http://www.swiss-dvd.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/True-Grit-laffiche.jpg A bit different from the Coens other movies, it was more "mainstream", but they already did other mainstream movies in the past like The Hudsucker Proxy, Intolerable Cruelty or O Brother. So it's not my favorite Coen movie but not my less favorite at the same time (I love all of their movies anyway, definitely my favorite filmmakers). Even if it was more "mainstream" it was very good nonetheless, I had a great time watching it. Jeff Bridges is just hilarious in it. And all the actors are great. It makes me wanna see the original version with John Wayne, that I have not seen yet.. Nice finally watched it! It was way more mainstream and gramps I have seen the original I think it's rare when the "remake" is better but IMO new True Grit > Old True Grit they are not completely the same because I think one went off the book and the other didn't but still I really enjoyed Bridges, Damon, and Hailee Steinfeld who held her own with these vets. Oliver P
In fact I totally forgot it (mainly because the original movie has a different name in French..) but I watched the original True Grit lol, well not entirely though just the ending... Still need to watch it entirely. But yeah from what I saw the last version is clearly better, I agree. It has to be better anyhow, it's the Coen... It's an exception though cause I usually always prefer the original to the remake. Only a few remakes are better IMO, like Nosferatu for example, the Herzog version was better, mainly because of Klaus Kinski's unbelievable performance. The only one I can think of off the top of my head but there are probably a couple of other remakes that I prefer than the original version. Last movie I saw was pretty old school City Slickers 8/10 http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm233/lebronze23/City-Slickers-B000059TFL-L.jpg Pretty funny stuff, all three lead actors made a funny trio. Awesome glad you liked it. I don't know how many times I watched this movie, really love it. I'm a huge fan of Billy Crystal anyhow (too bad he doesn't host the Oscars any longer, if it was up to me he would host them every year lol), I really like Daniel Stern and Bruno Kirby too (Bruno's father, Bruce, is an actor that I like a lot too, he played many times in my favorite TV show ever, Columbo). And let's not forget about the great Jack Palance, a true legend, his role is not as important in this movie but his character is just hilarious, it's always great to see him anyhow. Anyway today I watched Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. http://atnzone.com/nz/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/dirty_rotten_scoundrels.jpg Very funny movie, Michael Caine and Steve Martin are awesome as usual. And I was quite surprised by the ending, didn't expect the movie to end that way.. Had a very good time, I'm gonna give it a solid 8/10. htown11
http://www.onlinemovieshut.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/unknown-poster.jpg 9/10 Saw that last Monday, it was pretty good. I would give it a 7/10 it definitely had more depth than Taken and as old as Liam Neeson is he's still a bad ass with a deep voice lol. Phightins
I saw The Adjustment Bureau last night. I am going to give it a 5/10, and that may be generous (keep in mind I am a very tough grader). I had high hopes and thought it had a fantastic premise, but they did not push the envelope far enough IMO. It was very bland and predictable. My friends that saw it with me thought it was awful (one friend, a movie guru, said it is the worst movie he has ever seen in theaters), and while I won't go that far, it definitely was a major disappointment. Dash
The Karate Kid (2010) Good movie. I thought the story, fighting and the tournament were all better than the original but that is just me.

Damn that's disappointing I was looking forward to watching it, looked kind of interesting. I still might check it out but I have heard a few people now say they were really disappointed. The Karate Kid (2010) Good movie. I thought the story, fighting and the tournament were all better than the original but that is just me. Major surprise I actually liked it. Jackie was really good as the "master" and Will Smith's son has star potential written all over him lol. Plus that Chinese kid really did piss me off he had the face for the role good casting. I saw Deep Impact the other night on TNT very melodramatic but somewhat entertaining in the "I had nothing else to do so I ended up watching it" type of way. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm233/lebronze23/Deep_impact.jpg 4/

I liked the movie, I thought Kristen Stewart played Joan Jett really well. I wish it would have went a little bit more in depth but I still liked it for what it was. Though, while watching the movie, when they said the bass player's name, I didn't recognize it until I researched it only to find out that the bass player didn't want her name to be in the movie, which then made much more sense. Oliver P
Today I rewatched Back to the Future. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GIchwvJ-aNk/SljBEBENI_I/AAAAAAAAJE0/6cRZxPd7Bn8/s800/Back+to+the+future+movie+poster.jpg One of the movies that I watched the most, perhaps maybe the one that I watched the most, but I honestly can't get tired of it. It's like the first time I watch it every time. Just an amazing movie. Definitely in my top ten favorite movies list. Fantastic movie. So I definitely give it a 10/10. platoon793
Just a few films I've seen in the past couple of weeks. Haven't been able to watch as many as I would like lately due to teachers cramming in tests near spring break (which is next week for me). http://www.geeks.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/colad.jpg City of Life and Death I always thought that the Rape of Nanking would make a great movie if done right, and Chuan Lu has proved that with this movie. Beautifully shot in black and white, this film is simply unforgettable. The first hour or so contains some of the best war scenes I've ever seen, and the following time shows the aftermath after the Japanese take over of Nanking. There are many scenes that will stick with you for days, possibly even weeks. To put it simply, this is one of the best films the past decade has produced. Rating: 10/10 http://cache2.allpostersimages.com/p/LRG/40/4058/BSKLF00Z/posters/every-man-for-himself-and-god-against-all-1976.jpg Every Man For Himself and God Against All If I knew about Kaspar Hauser before, I'm not sure if I would think a good movie could come out of his story, but Herzog has made a great film based on the guy. Bruno who plays Kaspar Hauser is simply brilliant, and carries the film rather well with his performance. Rating: 10/10 http://netwebsite.in/movie/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/127-Hours-Poster.jpg 127 Hours James Franco really gives a stunning performance, and Boyle directs the film with style. And that is I think the film's minor problem. The film is shot, directed, scored, and acted very well for the most part, but I'm not sure if I was a big fan of Boyle's style. It seemed over the top sometimes, and I think that took away a bit from the power of the film. Rating: 9/10 http://scottbrothers.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/mulholland_drive.jpg Mulholland Drive The more I think about this film, the more I love it. Lynch has created a film that could be discussed endlessly, with many interpretations possible. The performances are great, especially Naomi Watts, and while the film might seem incoherent or confusing, it is never dull and I suspect as one watches it more, the film comes together more. Definitely a masterpiece and one of the best films of the past decade. Rating: 10/

By the way the film doesn't come together more the second time lol, I watched it three or four times (one of them in theaters) and the film is still as confusing to me lol. That's why it's great... That's pure David Lynch style. He loves to make confusing movies like that one, he already did with Twin Peaks and Lost Highway for example. By the way I like Mullolhand Drive a lot but I prefer Lost Highway, I advise you to watch it if you have not yet. None of the two are my favorite Lynch movies though, they are Elephant Man, Blue Velvet and The Straight Story. Just amazing... I still need to watch Eraserhead though, many people told me it was a pure masterpiece. Edited March 16, 2011 by Oliver P
platoon793
I think if one looks for clues or something the movie can come more together after a few viewings. I've thought about the movie and read some things and there are many interesting things people have mentioned that I missed, and I personally think I could possibly see some things I didn't see the first time around. Great thing is though even if you are confused, the movie is just a great experience. I've seen I think all of Lynch's short films, and Elephant Man, Mulholland Drive, Wild at Heart, and Dune. Dune was a horrible movie in my opinion. Wild at Heart was very good, and Mulholland Drive and Elephant Man were both great, though I would say Mulholland Drive is a masterpiece. Don't think I would say that about Elephant Man.
