Cleveland's Finest
BEREA, Ohio -- Eric Mangini won't be granted a third season as Cleveland's coach. Given a second chance last year by Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren to improve, Mangini was fired Monday following a second straight 5-11 season and one day after a humiliating home loss to the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Holmgren, who spent several days mulling Mangini's future after last season, wasted no time and dismissed him during a morning meeting. Holmgren would not rule out coaching again, but said Monday he is not part of the initial search to find a replacement for Mangini, who was dismissed after going 10-22 in two seasons. Holmgren sent out applications Monday for permission to speak with potential NFL candidates. Read More John Gruden, Marty Mornhinwheg, and Mike Holmgrem are the current names being heard here. CaliCurbStomppa
Why is Jon Gruden always bought up everywhere? Didn't he made it clear that he has no intention of coming back since he's enjoying being analyst for Monday Night Football?
Cleveland's Finest
He has the same agent as Holmgren, his son said he's interested in San Francisco and Cleveland, and Gruden praised Colt McCoy when he did the QB interviews before the draft last year. Also, born in Sandusky, OH. Edited January 3, 2011 by Cleveland's Finest
Nestle Snipes
No big surprise, I think Holmgrem will put his coaching hat back on.
