AboveLegit
Avery Johnson thought he could change Brook Lopez. Still does. He called Lopez a franchise cornerstone and an All-Star, as early as this season. [...] And if Lopez is going to lead this team in Brooklyn as a cornerstone player, he probably won't be averaging double digits in rebounds, according to Nets GM Billy King. “I don’t think Brook is ever going to be a 10-rebound guy. Rik Smits, I think, at his best was a seven- rebound guy. Kareem Adbul Jabaar, as great a scorer as he was, he wasn’t a great rebounder. Some guys have a knack for it. Some guys don’t,” King said. “I think he could get better at it, I just don’t think it’s something where he’s going to be a 10-, 12-rebound guy a night. I just don’t think it’s in him.” There’s a lot to be desired with Lopez’s game, but King says rival GMs are still gushing over the 22-year-old. “If you do your polls and talk to 29 other GMs, I guarantee you 29 of them that would say, ‘If you don’t want him, we’ll take him.” http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/nets/2011/01/brook-lopez-doesnt-have-the-knack-for-rebounding-says-billy-king-but-rival-gms-still-gu

The Truth
isnt he like 7'20he's seven feet, but height doesn't necessarily guarantee good rebounding skills.
Check my Stats
Ummm, he averaged just under 9 last year, it wouldn't be asking too much to ask for him to be a 10 rebound player. His rebounding numbers right now are absolutely inexcusable, as are his shooting percentages. It isn't acceptable for a 3rd year player to regress like he has. I don't know if he is hurt or whatever, but just as an outsider looking in at his stats alone, I am not impressed at all. But anyways, even if he was only a 9 RPG player that isn't a problem. Not a ton of guys average 10 boards, so if he is a 20 and 9 big he is still very useful, especially if he tosses you in 2 blocks too. I know it's been said over and over again, but him having to work his way back to his form from a year earlier hampered his progress. As a result, he's been playing farther away from the basket, which has affected both his rebounding and scoring. As for what King said, it's something worth re-assessing in a year or two. Owner Real Deal Posted January 6, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted January 6, 2011 Sorry, but I laughed at this. Kareem Adbul Jabaar, as great a scorer as he was, he wasn’t a great rebounder.Haha, riiiiight...because Kareem averaged anywhere between 10-17 RPG for the first 12 seasons of his career, averaged nine a game when he was 34.
