Music these days

Recommended Posts

Anyone notice that most mainstream always has something to do with love? This crap has been such a cliche since ever. I'd imagine that people would get annoyed about songs about love always being released. The same lyrical themes are getting so annoying and it is why Metal is so amazing, I love how Metal bands have a huge variety of lyrical themes. Rap also has always had the same lyrical themes.

I agree, I was actually thinking about this before. The reason is because love is something all non-sociopaths can relate to, and it makes girls vagina's tingle.

It makes your vagina tingle also.

Ooo someone's butthurt because I said his dick probably looks like a toothpick...cute. Look in the medicine cabinet, you'll find your mom's Midol there, it'll help you tremendously.

I don't really focus on the lyrics too much tbh, i worry about how the song is constructed and such. I don't listen to much or any mainstream so I really don't care much.

That is true, but since starting working I have had to listen to the radio, and I don't get how people don't get annoyed by the same lyrical themes over and over again. For mainstream music the lyrics are pretty much the most noticeable part.

i don't understand the thread. love has been a musical theme ever since the beginning of time. you'll be hard pressed to find a song on an album without songs about love(hell, it can be as blunt as they want about it, but some albums were entirely produced out of love. Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd(the album) is a great example of this)

Agree about the mainstream part but not about the rap. Yeah most rappers have the same themes these days, (money, drugs, girls) but not all as it seems all of mainstream is.

Even underground rappers talk about money, drugs, girls. I would say 95% of rappers do.

Hip-Hop hasn't allways had the same lyrical themes, that's a ridiculous thing to say. Gotta love generlisations.

While most modern day Hip-Hop talks about only "Money, drugs, sex, etc." doesn't mean it's always been that way.

love doesn't always mean sex/women though. love can be so much deeper than that for an album or song, and a lot of hip hop can trace roots to love for something.

I don't think I ever said that -_-. Nowadays rap has always had the same lyrical themes, whether its making money, pimping, hustling, selling drugs, all the typical stuff you hear over and over again. Of course you have guys like Immortal Technique who talk about politics but 95% of rappers do talk about what I mentioned.

Established rappers who made a name for themselves or just rappers in general ?

If you did only mean modern rappers then I agree with you 100%... but from that post it's easy to misinterpret.

Everyone on OTR knows that, in 2-3 years or however long it's going to take for Slaven to get married, dude is going to be playing some Shania Twain at his wedding, and I hope he's considerate enough to invite the entire site, even kingfish.

I noticed that every single one of Taylor Swift songs are about the exact same thing. Loving someone but not being loved back, being in love, broken hearts, taboo relationships, mean father, country girl. Almost every song she has mentions at east 3 of those topics.
