There's not a change in hell that this moron sees the day of light again. Not the slimmest chance in the world.

Well these days you might have one of those judges who says that America made him do this and that we need to change our ways to stop things like this. So the insanity defense might just work.

It creeps me the [expletive] out. Most "psychopath" I've seen in someone in a long, long time.

Not to be insensitive to the topic here because this really is a terrible tragedy, but why do I feel like this is a conspiracy theorists dream?

dude, you should research Manchurian Candidates. they're basically brainwashed assassins who commit their murders unknowingly. after Mark Chapman shot John Lennon, he just sat there and started reading 'The Catcher in the Rye.' Lee Oswald, Sirhan Sirhan, and Tim McVeigh are other suspected candidates.

these are some things I've found online about Loughner having possibly been a Manchurian Candidate.

whether or not this was a setup or just a senseless murder, it was a tragedy. RIP to all the victims.

I think he knew what he was doing, 100%. Old classmates described a time where he actually met Gabby, said she was ignorant and didn't know what she was talking about. Then, he was running his chops on YouTube for the last month or so, all about the government. His MySpace account was littered with rubbish hinting that he was going to do something stupid, and he was taking jabs at the police and the government on there for months as well.

He was just some loner who got into a little trouble with the law, decided the world was against him, and wanted to take lives to make an impact because he was too much of a worthless POS and a coward to make that impact any other way.

What an inspirational speech made by President Obama just now at the memorial service, just amazing. Analysts on CNN were comparing his 30 minute speech to Reagan's 4 minute speech after Challenger and Clinton's 8 minute speech in Oklahoma.

Text of Obama's speech

Great to hear from him, he spoke about how Gifford opened her eyes for the first time when he visited her at the hospital.

A defining moment in his presidency for sure.

Incredible speech, celebrating the heroes and mourning the loss of lives. Glad he attended and extremely glad he spoke it was beyond inspirational.

I don't think anyone inspires through words better, and when Obama is in his element it resonates in a huge way throughout the masses.

I want us to live up to her expectations. I want our democracy to be as good as she imagined it. All of us - we should do everything we can to make sure this country lives up to our children's expectations.

Christina was given to us on September 11th, 2001, one of 50 babies born that day to be pictured in a book called "Faces of Hope." On either side of her photo in that book were simple wishes for a child's life. "I hope you help those in need," read one. "I hope you know all of the words to the National Anthem and sing it with your hand over your heart. I hope you jump in rain puddles."

If there are rain puddles in heaven, Christina is jumping in them today. And here on Earth, we place our hands over our hearts, and commit ourselves as Americans to forging a country that is forever worthy of her gentle, happy spirit.

May God bless and keep those we've lost in restful and eternal peace. May He love and watch over the survivors. And may He bless the United States of America."

Well said.

Barack Obama is an incredible speaker. He's definitely one of my biggest inspirations. He delivers speeches so well.

"We recognize our own mortality, and are reminded that in the fleeting time we have on this earth, what matters is not wealth, or status, or power, or fame - but rather, how well we have loved, and what small part we have played in bettering the lives of others."

So true.

Agreed, he really lifted everyone's spirits with his speech and was so emotional in his delivery. It truly felt like he had lost his own daughter in the killings, and spoke like he was the father of Christina (nine year old who was killed).

My favorite part of the speech was when he said, "I believe we can be better. Those who died here, those who saved lives here - they help me believe. We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another is entirely up to us. I believe that for all our imperfections, we are full of decency and goodness, and that the forces that divide us are not as strong as those that unite us."
