Owner Real Deal Posted January 17, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted January 17, 2011 That interview was hilarious. "Can't stop a nosebleed (referring to the defense)." "(Replying to "See you in Pittsburgh") CAN'T WAIT."
EastCoastNiner
This game was frustrating as [expletive]. The major problems that pop out are: 1. Brady has sucked in the playoffs recently. He's lost his last three playoffs games, with him holding a lot of the blame in the last two games, both being the Patriots first game of the playoffs. 2. The Jets kept getting great field position all game. 3. Every time the Jets ran the ball it seemed like they would get about 5 yards, and the Patriots couldn't get any yards when they rushed. 4. Mark Sanchez stepped up and played very well. 5. I know Alge Crumpler made a nice play running down David Harris, but he dropped an EASY TD which I think could have been a major turning point in the game. 6. Everyone else on offense was invisible, and Brady kepy holding the ball too long. 7. The defense didn't play great, but they were put in terrible situations all game long. They did decent for the most part, but they let up a few HUGE plays. 8. The Santonio Holmes catch was an absolute killer. That may be the one play that was the most frustrating. 9 Tom Brady sucked. 10. Tom Brady sucked. The one thing that really stood out today was the lack of a real deep threat. I know the offense has played great all season long, but there's only so long you can go without a legitimate deep threat. Get me A.J. Green or Julio Jones NOW! Anyways, I am very disappointed, but trying to put a positive spin on it, no one really expected the Patriots to be any good this year, as it was supposed to be a "re-building" year, and they still went 14-2. I'm looking forward to the draft and seeing how they can improve their team even more. The O-line should be healthy next year, along with Leigh Bodden (starting CB) and Ty Warren coming back. They need to get a deep threat on offense, and they need to bolster the defense up a little with some legitimate pass-rushers.
fish7718
At least your consistent, blaming Brady, just like you blamed Manning, when really neither deserve the blame. Thoughts on Moss trade now? Edited January 17, 2011 by fish7718

Nice assessment, I agree with all of your points, especially the ones about Brady. He's been awfully average dating back to the Giants Super Bowl game. The Patriots need to give the line a little revamp - Mankins and Vollmer are the only starters that should be retained. He's bracing to get hit too often, will hold onto the ball too long and, quite frankly, I think he's scared to get hit. He's psychologically damaged goods when you get to him early and often as the Jets did. He's still arguably the best quarterback in the league, but man is he a sitting duck. He makes Ryan Mallett looks like Big Ben in the pocket. The Jets really do have the blueprint in beating both the Patriots and Colts now. You have to bring in great athletic talent, guys who are smart and can play man-to-man and linebackers who are decent in coverage. Even with Jim Leonhard out, and Brodney Pool injured as well, the Jets are still bringing safeties into the box and challenging teams to throw deep on them. Once Cromartie was in there to shut down Pierre Garcon in the Indianapolis game, it was all over. Wayne wasn't going to do anything and Blair White isn't a deep threat at all. With only Santi to worry about inside, the Jets could send a little extra pressure as well. In this Pats game, the lack of a deep threat (as ECN alluded to) destroyed any chance the Pats had in winning the game. New England actually had an upper hand in all of the formations and motions they were running pre-snap. The bunch trips screens, the motion quick outs to guys like Woodhead and Edelman were perfect counter actions to the Jets tight coverage. Get the ball out quickly and let your guys run for YAC. However, things like false starts, poor throws and awesome coverage really discouraged that at points. I know they had to let Moss go to keep the locker room intact, but even his presence could've given this game a whole different look. Brady had nothing down field. Is Brady's mystique in the playoffs gone though? I mean, it's inevitable, but the statistical passing stats of Brady's has evened out with the coinciding of his poor playoff performances. Lkr
look at how good the Patriots are in the post season after spygate I'm sure the Pats could have won if they were able to video tape the Jets walk through and know when to audible and where the pressure was coming from
EastCoastNiner
It's weird because Brady is starting to turn into Peyton Manning. He's had some great regular season's recently, but is sucking in the playoffs. I'm most angry about the big plays that were given up in the game. You score a TD and cut the lead to three points, and then give up a huge passing play, and then Holmes makes an awesome catch. If I can have one WR in the playoffs, give me Holmes. He just flat out makes plays.
Lkr
what is Brady supposed to do when all of his targets are covered? Same thing happened to Manning last week. That happens when you play good defenses.

That happens when you play good defenses. That's why they need some WR's that have some speed. I like Deion Branch and Wes Welker, but they aren't scaring any teams going deep. It's easier to cover WR's when you know they don't go deep. Also, the Jets defense wasn't even that impressive. The Patriots were moving the ball pretty well for a decent amount of the game, but would screw it up around mid-field every damn possession. Guru
After thinking of this game, I can't wait for the Jets and Patriots games this year. It's going to be wonderful to see these two teams battle it out, with the Jets hopefully ripping the Patriots apart.

At least he has an argument when he discusses a topic, and supports his argument. You just spew absolute nonsense. I bumped the other thread because I actually was thinking of it the other day after watching Patriots highlights last season, but wasn't going to bump the thread, but he bumped a thread two years old for little to no reason. Make a sig be on the November 6, 2011 game if you're so cocky. Edited July 17, 2011 by EastCoastNiner

NomarFachix
but he bumped a thread two years old for little to no reason.I was looking for your Pirates comment, by searching for iBoldin's posts in the baseball forum (I know he doesn't have many) so that I could post the link after your claim in the general baseball thread. I came across that thread, which I hadn't seen/read before, and wanted to add my 2 cents, which was in no way anti-Sox or venomous at all. You took it the wrong way. NomarFachix
That's fine, but I still don't know why you had to bump it.I felt like I had an opinion on the topic that hadn't been posted before that point, and it was an objective observation on the player discussed and why he is hit frequently. It's not like I wrote "bump, youk pwnt" just to troll.. it was a legitimate observation that held no bias or malicious intent.
