AboveLegit
The Mavs are close to a verbal agreement to sign Peja Stojakovic once he clears waivers Monday, two league sources confirmed to CBSSports.com. Only hours after his buyout with Toronto was finalized, the Mavs expressed "strong interest," said the source, who added that Dallas fits Stojakovic's desire to hook up with a Western Conference contender. Stojakovic is expected to sign a one-year deal at the prorated veteran's minimum of $1.4 million on Monday after the 48-hour waiver period expires. http://ken-berger.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/11838893/27161920 STEIN_LINE_HQ Marc Stein Sources say Mavs also close to separate trade w/TOR to send reserve center Alexis Ajinca to Raps for draft itemsf. All explained in story Since Peja is making 15 mil this season, methinks he will not be claimed on waivers and thus be free to sign with Mavs early next weekRT @WolstatSun: @STEIN_LINE_HQ Raps VP Maurizio Gherardini told us beat types he loved Ajinca during draft workout process that yearhttp://twitter.com/#!/STEIN_LINE_HQ

ChosenOne
Good signing by the Mavs if they actually are able to get this done.
Check my Stats
Damn if I was Peja I would have waited until Miami or LA called first.

The Truth
Damn if I was Peja I would have waited until Miami or LA called first.he wouldn't have gotten much playing time on those teams. LA has Artest/Barnes and MIA has James/Jones/Miller. now, Boston might have made sense, but I still think Dallas was his best option. they're a title contending team and Peja will probably be a starter there. Check my Stats
Peja is better than all of those players you mentioned except Artest, but Artest has been so bad offensively this year his defense is pretty much moot.
NomarFachix
Damn, I was hoping the Knicks would show a little interest in Alexis. Then again, Mike D doesn't like playing centers at center. -_-
The Regime
Short term fix for the Mavs, but this still isn't the solution to replace Caron Butler. With the current squad Mavs are no better than 4th in the West.

Dallas is the best opportunity for Peja cuz they desperately need his services and he's gonna get good minutes there. Short term fix for the Mavs, but this still isn't the solution to replace Caron Butler. With the current squad Mavs are no better than 4th in the West.yeah, they still need to make a big time deal imo, but this at least helps them a little.
