Check my Stats Posted January 26, 2011 Report Share Posted January 26, 2011 Cleveland, Minnesota, Sacramento, New Jersey, Toronto, Washington, Detroit and Milwaukee. These are the teams currently poised to pick in the top 8 and you would assume are 'rebuilding' (save maybe Milwaukee lol). So which of these teams do you think are positioned best as a young team? Worst? Consider who they have now as well as well as where they will likely be selecting in the draft as it stands now (they are ordered last to 8th there). I'd tempted to put Washington over NJ since they have a young player with superstar potential in Wall, but that Lewis contract really hurts their flexibility down the road. I also think Minnesota could be ahead of Sacramento; the Beasley/Love combo could really have potential, especially if you add a really good PG that can play some defense to that team. FYI, I really don't think Milwaukee should be included on this list. Salmons, Maggette, Boykins, Dooling, and Gooden are all getting up there in age. AboveLegit Posted January 27, 2011 Report Share Posted January 27, 2011 Well the only reason why I put NJ over the Wizards is because they have so much flexibility and have the assets to trade for or sign a big name guy. They already have a solid team to build around with Lopez and Favors, which could end up being a great frontcourt in a few years. It's not so much of Lewis' contract that tempts me to put them behind the Nets as it is their situation with Blatche and McGee. I'm not sold on either one of them, nor do I think they are good long term solutions. The only players I am positive about is Wall and Young, I believe both have star potential. But if they get a top 3 pick and are able to draft a guy like Perry Jones or Terrance Jones, then who knows, we could be looking at the next team on the rise. Lewis' contract really isn't as bad as Arenas, so it's not so much of a problem to me. And I agree with you, I don't think of Milwaukee as a rebuilding team. With DeRozan developing into a star and our youngest roster in the NBA, we are developing fast and I think Ed Davis will also become really good. Hope I'm not mistaking though Milwaukee: This team is really going to be great with Brandon Jennings becoming better and better every year. Him and Bogut will be one of the best duo on the court in a few years. Washington: John Wall, #1 Draft pick this year has still a lot to improve but the future is bright for him. McGee and Nick Young will also develop into stars. Future is bright in DC especially if they trade Blatche Sacramento: Tyreke Evans who has been a beast this year, disappeared a bit this season not taking smart decisions on the court. He shoots too much and I never understand why he takes fade-aways when he's wide open.. anyways, him, Cousins and Casspi are going to make this team is a few years a really good one. That's why they're ranked here. New Jersey: If they get Melo, they are higher but we can't predict the future. Devin Harris, Derrick Favors and Brook Lopez are three special players who are making this New Jersey team survive this year. They have a good future as well Minnesota: With Kevin Love, Michael Beasley, Jonny Flynn and even Rubio joining them soon, future is bright for the Timberwolves Detroit: They need to rebuild and can't even build around Stuckey. No great chemistry. Rip is benched and team is old. Don't really know about their future Cleveland: Since LBJ left, everything needs to be rebuilt in Cleveland. They have a [expletive] team and have nothing positive there. Maybe building around Varejao and Hickson would be a good idea. Get a true leader though.
