NBA Bans Tinted Goggles

Dwyane Wade's tinted goggles have been banned by the NBA.

After a hands-on review at league headquarters in Manhattan Thursday afternoon, the league has rejected the shaded goggles Wade planned to wear against the Knicks. Officials determined there was too much tinting and it would have given him a competitive advantage because opponents would not be able to see his eyes.

Wade, who has been suffering some light sensitivity after a bout with a migraine last weekend, practiced with the glasses over the last several days and was going to use them out of precaution at Madison Square Garden.

Well, this actually does make sense. It would be a competitive advantage because of not being able to read his eyes. I thought those goggles were ridiculous anyways.

Yeah exactly. +1. If you can't see what the player does, it's not fair at all

haha w/e broskies.

I'm calling conspiracy here. I think Stern was just looking out for his Knicks. I mean, they're only goggles. how are they going to create a 'competitive advantage?'

wow, what a mature title

meh, it had to come out sometime. I think I hate Stern more than anyone in the world besides George W. Bush.

When I'm defending point guards, I have to look up at their eyes before they show me they are going to make a move with the ball. It's the only way I know when to gamble on defense, and what may be going on behind me.

Also, a lot of guards will follow the screener with their eyes, and that helps me figure out where he's going as well.

Ever rip a player when he's looking up at the clock?

It's a smart move to ban them, in my opinion.

He needed dark glasses/goggles because of the migraines he's been having lately. The pain in his head went away but his eyes were still sensitive to bright light. No problem with them doing this though.

I think he should have rested longer to be honest. There was no immediate need for him to return, the team isn't exactly in any trouble without him for a few more games(although he is out tonight because of an unrelated injury)

If they're only goggles and they don't provide a competitive advantage, how would banning them be 'looking out for the Knicks'?

-_- at least be consistent in your idiocy

Wade wanted to wear the goggles because they helped his sensitive eyes. by not letting him wear them, he plays worse and the Knicks have a better shot at winning.

Yeah, I'm sure thats exactly what Stern was thinking. Let's make one of our biggest cash cows suffer through migranes so the Knicks have a better chance of winning. If that was his plan then it sure back fired because he had one of the best games of his career.
