BAMBOOZLED Recently Kobe passed Hakeem on the all time scoring list. "I learned a great deal, obviously, just the details of the post game from him," Bryant said after Thursday's practice. "Hakeem is incredibly smart and for him to take the time and welcome me into his home and show me different things is a tribute to his greatness." Bryant had some high praise for the former Houston Rockets center. "In my opinion, he's the best post player ever," Bryant said. "With all due respect to [Kevin] McHale, Hakeem was phenomenal." Oliver P Posted January 30, 2011 Report Share Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) Yeah I remember this series pretty well. Weirdest series I ever saw... Every team won away ! Well until the Rockets eventually won at home in game 6 to end the series. The Rockets were a big surprise that year, after struggling the whole season (mainly due to the Drexler-Thorpe trade and that Herrera - who was not nearly as good as in the 94 Finals and was injured in the playoffs -, Chucky Brown and Pete Chilcutt were their only true PFs, in the playoffs Rudy T even chose to start Horry as a PF for the first time of his career) and ending as 6th in the West, no one believed in them in the playoffs. Me included (I thought the the Suns would make the Finals that year). Well no one except... Chris Webber. As a matter of fact C-Webb was the only one who said before the playoffs begun that the Rockets would win it all. Everyone thought he was crazy at the time... Well he was right. Anyway Hakeem was very impressive indeed in this series, he definitely made Robinson look like a fool. I wasn't a big fan of Robinson so I have to say that it was funny to watch lol. Even if I still liked the Spurs at the time (because of Rodman who's among my three favorite players ever). But it wasn't surprising to see Hakeem dominate him though, Robinson was very talented but, as Rodman said it himself, he was gutless, he was never there when it matters the most. As talented as he was Robinson was no leader material, I definitely agree with The Worm about that. He was much better later as Duncan's sidekick.
