Newman
Link Jason Williams, released last month by the Orlando Magic, signed a contract Monday to return to the Memphis Grizzlies, where he played from 2001-05. Grizzlies officials announced the signing moments before the game with the Los Angeles Lakers. The signing had been rumored for about a week, but the team would not confirm their interest in the point guard until he was officially signed. Another PG the Grizzlies have found in hope of giving Mike Conley some competition.
La Bomba
Pointless signing. Conley and Vasquez have the first two spots basically locked. Wouldn't be surprised if Williams gets cut in a couple weeks.
Newman
I believe the contract is guaranteed, so it would be pointless if they are only renting him for a couple of weeks.
La Bomba
Also I don't think Conley really needs any competition at the point guard spot. I don't expect him to do nothing more but run the offense effectively. He's putting up pretty respectable assist numbers considering how much iso and one on one plays the Grizzlies run
