Phightins
So, the MLB Draft is this week. Not sure how many of you follow this, but if you do, what is your wish list for your team? The Phillies lost their first round pick due to the Lee signing, but they also picked up a supplemental pick as well as Washington's 2nd round pick as compensation for losing Werth. So even though we don't pick til 39, we have a handful of early-ish picks. I keep hearing Brandon Nimmo's name pop up in connection with the Phillies. He may need to fall a bit to reach 39, but he does seem like a typical early round Phillies hit. "Toolsy" outfielder, more athlete than baseball player, etc. I hear he wants a pretty substantial signing bonus, though, so that will probably scare a lot of teams away (Phillies included). Cameron Gallagher is a possibility also. Philly-area guy, great bat at a premium position (catcher). I keep seeing him projected as a late 2nd or 3rd rounder, so I guess I'd prefer to see them wait a bit on him, but I would not be surprised at all to see the Phillies reach at 39, similar to what they did with Jesse Biddle last year. Other than that, I have no idea. The Phillies scouts have typically earned their paychecks in the middle/late rounds in the past few years (Dom Brown, Jon Singleton, Jarred Cosart, Brody Colvin, etc). They don't like to overpay for one or two kids early, and I like how this strategy has worked out. Edited June 4, 2011 by Phightins

Teletopez
I went to a wedding yesterday in Flushing Meadows. It crossed my mind that we may be in the area of Citi Field, but I never thought I'd look out the ballroom window and see this. http://oi53.tinypic.com/2weyq2o.jpg

Phightins
I don't understand why an umpire can make a judgment call on a ground rule double as to whether or not a base runner scores, but they can't on umpire interference. A runner on 3rd base is clearly going to score on a bullet single up the middle, no?

I wouldn't try and win when regardless of my record no one filled the seats. Baseball teams in Florida are a joke. They're usually good but the fans don't give a shit about them. They're usually good but the fans don't give a shit about them.I don't think that is the mentality of players. If anything they want to win so they can get more money or go to a better team. Look at Hanley Ramirez, played like a beast, then he got paid, now he blows.
Phightins
Edwin Rodriguez out as Marlins manager. They are apparently considering Jack McKeon as interim manager. Seriously? He isn't in a nursing home already?

Jenneral
The Brewers pitching is taking a serious shit lately. Greinke blew up. Marcum got hurt in a 50 pitch 1st inning. Gallardo just got shelled. What's going on?
