Pippen: Bosh is "half a player", JVG "a jackass"

From SLAM Magazine...

SLAM: You came out on the winning end of that “Will the Heat win 72 games?” discussion. How’d you know it’d be so tough for them to win so many games?

SP: I just felt it was an insult to every team that’s played in this League to think that one team can be put together, and now all of a sudden we got—excuse my word—a jackass like Jeff Van Gundy saying they can win 72 games and break the Bulls’ record. Who is he? So that was just something that he totally took out of proportion, to some degree—with respect to those two players, or I would say two and a half players, since I don’t think Chris Bosh is half the player of LeBron James. But there’s no way those guys are gonna break any type of record. I don’t think they can break the franchise record in Miami, or the state of Florida, I should say.

Sweet, so LeBron is gonna have a 60 point game soon and Bosh will have a 20/20 game coming right up. Thanks Scottie.

/Dude sounds sour as hell.

Someone forgetting D-Wade? Lebron will never score 60 on Miami with the Big 3 on the court. Bosh can barely scrap 12 rebounds no way he gets 20 lmao.

LeBron scored 51 this year so I think he could score 60 in a game but the best thing about this team is that he doesn't have to.

D-Wade is consistent though with his 25-30 PPG, which is why he's the man.

I'd love to know what Scottie Pippen has to be sour about when comparing himself and those Bulls teams to LeBron and the Heat.

Pippen knows he is wrong though

We can beat the Heat franchise record in wins.....the Magic's as well.

Heat's franchise record is 61-21. Magic was 60-22

Putting aside that horrible start, in just one season together, we could possibly have 45+ wins and less than 10 losses. We still can afford to lose 7 more games this season and tie our franchise record. So Pippen is kind of an idiot for saying we won't break our own franchise record over the span of the next 6 years with these guys in their prime.

First of all, he said Bosh was half the player LBJ is, not half a player in general. And 2nd of all, I don't get the resentment from Scottie towards LeBron. LBJ is the best player in the world, and is easily better than Scottie was. All these players, ex-players, resent the Heat because of the stuff ESPN comes out with, LBJ and them are not the ones talking about taking down these records. They have publicly spoken about wanting to win titles, but so has just about every other elite player. They're hungry to win, and it's almost like people are faulting them for it, it's pathetic really.

Pippen's dynasty teams were built organically. him and Jordan were drafted to the Bulls and they built those great teams from within. I think he feels some resentment toward LeBron and Bosh because they're 'ring chasers,' and some people see that as a negative thing. I don't have a problem with it at all, personally. those guys gave seven years to their respective franchises and went nowhere, so what's wrong with joining a new team? I don't see why that's frowned upon by people, especially since they're sacrificing money and personal accomplishment to get there.

The Bulls were not built from "within", as a matter of fact no one on that '84 Bulls team (the year Jordan was drafted) was on any of the Bulls championship teams.

Jerry Krause traded for Pippen and Rodman in masterful deals. Without that, Jordan might have been what Lebron James had been in Cleveland., a great player all alone. Yeah, the Bulls drafted some key pieces like Armstrong and Grant, but none of them were truly great players.

I agree with you that the Heat big three made the right career moves for themselves, I would of definitely left Toronto for Miami if I was in Bosh's position. The only resentment Scottie probably feels is that they were being compared to the Bulls (which really isn't their fault at all). CMS couldn't have said it any better, ESPN is completely at fault here.

I agree Bosh is so overrated by he still compliments them nicely is definitely a good player. He just isn't a superstar like some people think he is.

Scottie Pippen was probably one of the more overrated to ever play the game as well - Good player for sure, but when you talk about someone that really benefited from playing alongside Jordan, his name instantly comes to mind.

Who thinks that Bosh is a superstar? The highest praise he has ever gotten on OTR, at least from during the time that I have been here, was that he is a borderline top 3 power forward in the game.

I just don't understand how a guy can be overrated when nobody even praises his game. The only time people even mention him is to point out his flaws and to say just how overrated he is.

Hell, a lot of people are saying that he is barely a top 7 power foward anymore and are saying that LaMarcus Aldridge is better than him. If anything, Bosh has become underrated since joining the Heat, but he gets [expletive] on so much because he is an easy target and players/former players don't have the balls to call out somebody like LeBron or Wade because of their names.
