Yankees 9-Game Road Trip

Recommended Posts

Three games in Tampa Bay, from which we've won the first. Four games in Chicago against the ChiSox. Two games in Toronto.

CC Sabathia (10-6, 3.67) vs. Scott Kazmir (4-6, 6.69)

Joba Chamberlain (6-2, 3.86) vs. Matt Garza (7-7, 3.68)

Another outstanding performance by Burnett yesterday, and great hitting off James Shields and the rest of the Rays pitching staff. Albaladejo has been getting hit terribly, and Robertson has been a bit shaky, though.

- Fielding mistakes made CC's outing a lot worse than it should have been.

- Swisher really needs to pick it up in the outfield. 2 plays should have been made that he didn't make. First, the sliding catch that was dropped, and the sliding probably wasn't necessary. Then, misplaying a line drive base hit that allowed runner to score from first.

- We're finally seeing Cano take more pitches this season, but his buddy Melky, needs to take more in my opinion. Sometimes, he doesn't take enough pitches in an AB, and sometimes, he swings at the wrong counts.

Anyway, as I said before, we're not going to win every game, and especially against a good offensive team that plays well at home, you can't expect things to be easy. What's important is that we bounce back tomorrow.

And one more thing. You hear people say how boring baseball is. One thing that makes it exciting is that the unexpected happens. The first game of this series, the Yankees have no trouble hitting off a pitcher with an ERA below 4, and the next day, they have no answer against a pitcher with an ERA of almost 7.

Arguably Joba's best pitching performance of his career so far. Only 3 hits given up in 8 innings of scoreless ball. The breaking ball was working, Joba was working quickly, and he made everything look easy.

Great offensive support as well.

It's a shame that we had to bring Mo in again to get the final two outs. It's also a shame that Bruney hasn't been himself after coming back from injury. He has the velocity, but he's getting hit badly.

We're 3.5 games up on Boston!

By the way, Dwight Howard threw out the first pitch today.

Well that was a very rough series, but at least we ended it with a win.

Great to see Melky hit for the cycle. He hit the triple right after I turned on the radio, and I was wondering at first why John Sterling was so excited.

Jerry Hairston Jr. played really well yesterday and today. He went a combined 3-6 with a couple of RBI's, and he flashed some leather as well.

After an off-day tomorrow, we play two games in Toronto.

Worried about CC at all?

The thing is Burnett, who has been red hot, struggled terribly yesterday, so maybe it was just a rough series for the whole team.

Also, CC really only had one bad inning, and the other frames went pretty smooth. I didn't see a whole lot of today's game, but his main problem last start was bringing out the killer 2-strike pitches he usually has.

Thursday's game is still really bothering me. Ted Barrett's strike zone was ridiculous, and then Pierzynski's "slide" into second base that caused Cano to throw the ball wide and prevent an inning ending DP and caused a run to score.

Regardless, we need to put it behind us and rest well tomorrow. Two games at the Rogers Centre and back home we go to host Boston for four games.

Looks like loss and loss lol but whos knows you guys jumped on halladay early

We attacked early and we attacked late. It's only the second time in Halladay's career that he's allowed back to back homeruns, and he tied a career high of 3 HR's allowed. That was one heck of an outing prior to the three homers. He was still able to pitch the complete game with a low pitch count.

Mitre has to show he can pitch better than he did in his last two starts. Hopefully, our offense will be there to support him if he struggles.

We closed out the road trip well with three consecutive wins, bouncing back from a rough series in Chicago. Mitre improved a lot from his last two outings. Though he couldn't go very far, he had the sinker working, was hitting targets more often, and kept the game close.

We finish the road trip 5-4 with momentum going back home to host the BoSox.
