The Regime
@tomhaberstroh Synergy's top 5 worst defenders (min. 300 plays): J.R. Smith, Ramon Sessions, Daniel Gibson, Marco Belinelli, Nic Batum. Multi-Billionaire what happened to your boy JR? Also I don't understand why Nicholas Batum is on that list, he's a top 15 perimeter defender in the NBA.
Flash
I always thought Batum was supposed to be a great defender?

I don't know if he's top 5 bad, but his defense is garbage this year.

Shard
I thought Batum was an alright defender. I would put Willie Green in that mix along with Peja Stojakovic.
Owner Real Deal Posted February 16, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted February 16, 2011 Move Batum off the list, and stick in Steve Nash. In any "bad defense" category, you have to have Steve...unless they are just omitting him because he's a perennial candidate.
Check my Stats
Calderon is a worse defender than Nash, at least Nash will pick up the occasional charge here and there.
*Swish*
Batum is a defensive specialist so this list is bull[expletive] and they forgot Bargnani and Calderon
Erick Blasco
Batum is a defensive specialist so this list is bull[expletive] and they forgot Bargnani and Calderon How can statistical facts be bull[expletive]? Do you know what synergy does? They chart each and every possession in the NBA and record the statistical data. Bargnani has become a pretty respectable post-up defender. I've charted his post defense in an earlier game against the Knicks and he did okay. His rotations and other areas of his game are awful, but it's hard to account for defensive help in one-on-one metrics. Obviously there are things going on in Portland and with Batum that are causing him to be ineffective. He DOES usually guard really good players, and I think he comes off the bench so he's playing with young, inexperienced help defensive bigs. But Batum's defensive specializing hasn't had much effect. He's also not great at defending players who are quick, but ends up guarding them more often than not.

Nash plays respectable team defense and Phoenix' help defense can sometimes be coordinated enough to stop teams. As bad as Nash is, he has his moments. Erick Blasco
I thought Batum was an alright defender. I would put Willie Green in that mix along with Peja Stojakovic. Peja hasn't played, he wouldn't qualify, and Willie Green is by no means a bad defender.
Abro
I'd put LeBron in there instead of any of those players! have you seen him this year?! This guy has been even worse than his first seven years in the NBA goes to show how bad this guy is.. He's garbage on the defensive end.
