Dr. Feelgood
In your opinion, what top 3 coaches do you think should be the coach of the year this season? I'll give my opinions in a bit.

Owner Real Deal Posted February 17, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted February 17, 2011 Popovich, Thibodeau, and McMillan. I would take Thibodeau over all three, though, because the Bulls are 2nd in the league, defensively, and that's basically without Noah for half of the season so far. They are also the third best team in the East, despite missing Boozer for 18 of the 53 games (without Noah for 29 games). Tom is a defensive-minded coach, and we saw what he did with Boston for the last three years...it's obvious he's nothing less than a plus sign in Chicago. If the Sixers are .500 or above by the end of the season, I would PROBABLY move Collins into my top three, replacing McMillan. Coin toss...depends on how many games over the Sixers are. Phightins
No love for Doug Collins? If we are legitimately looking for the best coaching job, not the guy who happens to coach the most talented team, I think he HAS to be top 3. And I don't think saying this makes me a big homer or anything, I just think you'd struggle to find more than 2 other coaches who have gotten more out of the group they are given than Collins has. Of course, I'll admit a lot of the Sixers success is probably an indictment of how bad Eddie Jordan was, but Doug has done a spectacular job. And most importantly, he registered on OTR just so he could write me a nice letter. Edited February 17, 2011 by Phightins

*Swish*
For me, Popovitch is first, Doc is second and Doug is third. Sorry but Phil Jackson doesn't deserve [expletive]

AboveLegit
Popovich. He has shown how great he can be this year by orchestrating a top ten offense and defense, while only playing Duncan under 30MPG. Spurs are on pace for over 60 wins, that should be more than enough to give him COY.
Dr. Feelgood
I just don't see how Doug Collins can be said over Nate McMillan. Nate has coached the Blazers to the 5th seed with a team still being beaten up by the injury bug. Now I understand that the 76ers have already won as many games this year as they did last year but given the situation the Blazers have been in and what they've overcome, how is Doug Collins ahead of McMillan to those that said Collins? Rajon Rondo
You can't win COY with a team that's below .500, sorry.

All I said was Doug should be top 3. Honestly haven't done enough homework on other candidates, since I admittedly don't watch much NBA (besides Sixers games), I was just saying I find it hard to believe that there are three better coaching jobs out there this season. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me. You can't win COY with a team that's below .500, sorry. Why not? Dr. Feelgood
1. Greg Pop2. Nate Mc3. Tom Tib In that order. I feel Pop has done a great job this year with his team, especially with hes kept duncans minutes down. Obviously with Nate & what the Blazers have gone through this year, he deserves mad props & Tom Tib is a great defensive minded coach that has turned the Bulls around. The Sixers were terrible. It doesn't help McMillan's case that Aldridge is going nuts. The dude is putting up 30s and 40s now, which is something I could've never predicted. It's not that Nate started running the offense through him (the primary option was Roy), he just didn't have any other choice.
