AboveLegit
For once in my life I'd like to hear a superstar say he wants to come play for the Wizards... -_- Anyways, let's have a toast to a whole new year of talking about a star coming to play for the Knicks! htownborn
So if this is true what does this mean for Chris Paul? I thought he was coming to New York Edited February 20, 2011 by htownborn

AboveLegit
Why doesn't Melo want to go to the Wizards? Isn't he from Baltimore? He was raised in Bmore. He said he didn't want to play too close to home (or something like that).
trutrojan8
Why would you come out like this while you're still playing on a team? It's like a huge [expletive] you to your teamates - he should've just waited until after the season.
Owner Real Deal Posted February 20, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted February 20, 2011 After he forces Jerry Sloan out (don't care what anyone thinks, he did), he comes out of nowhere and states he wants to play for New York, even though he has a season and a half left on his contract? What the hell is wrong with him? This might be worse than LeBron and Melo.

You would think when Sloan left, that he'd be a little more happy being under an offense which he's most comfortable in, but now he's making matters much worse. I never expected this out of him, I've always respected D-Will and thought of him as a loyal guy.
Multi-Billionaire
Or it could be Knicks fans' "NY state of mind" to stir this to move on from Melo now Melo is going to NJ.
Flash
Fold the Knicks franchise if they go 0-3. 0-1 was expected but 2 and 3 are out there on a silver platter.

Technically they're 1-2... They were expected to sign Chris Bosh or Amar'e and then put him with LeBron. Only achieved one of those goals... The Truth
As a longtime Illini fan, this would make me holy [expletive], I just realized you were IllWill lol. all this time, I thought you were just some random mod who came back to the forum after a long hiatus. kudos on the new username, though. it's pretty hilarious. I'm sayin, though - how you gonna be an Illini fan in Philly? it's all about that Syracuse orange.

I'm sayin, though - how you gonna be an Illini fan in Philly? it's all about that Syracuse orange. lol I get grief for the Yankees/Knicks/Giants/Rangers in Philly too, I'm used to it I never watched college bball growing up, nobody in my house really paid attention to it. I was flipping one day and Illinois was playing on national TV, so I kept it on... Watched Corey Bradford go nuts with like 8 three pointers, and just like that I was a huge fan. I was probably 12 or 13, and the dude set the national record for 3's made in consecutive games in his senior year, though Reddick eventually broke it. Can't tell you, living in Jersey, how much grief I got for being a 'bandwagon fan' the year they went to the NCAA finals against UNC. Dee Brown, Deron, Augestine, Luther Head, Roger Powell, Nick Smith (the bird!)... Kids were so nasty. I was heartbroken when they lost
AboveLegit
How exactly are they supposed to acquire Deron with the new CBA if they are paying Melo and Amare roughly 40 million a year? Not to mention if this trade goes through with Denver, they won't have any trade assets left.

Not to mention if this trade goes through with Denver, they won't have any trade assets left.I was just wondering that myself. even if D-Will wants to play here, how are we ever supposed to afford him? Melo and Amare alone would run us over $40M/year. are teams allowed to sign free agents if it puts them well over the salary cap? I think since it's technically not a 'hard cap,' they're able to sign whoever they want - they just have the pay the luxury tax.

Hence why all of those teams traded away key pieces just to create space this past summer.
NomarFachix
Is there any way he'd be able to sign for the MLE and then get a max the next season via Bird Rights? (I have no idea about contractual stuff like this)

Over the weekend we saw reports that the Suns might send Amare Stoudemire - yes, here we go with Stoudemire trade rumors again - to the Washington Wizards for Antawn Jamison, the expiring contract of Mike James, and the #5 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
