AboveLegit
http://www.basketball-reference.com/blog/?p=8847 Nick Young But it makes sense, everything he does involves him moving around screens or playing 1 on 1 ball...not to mention he's one of two players (Blatche being the other) that actually has the ability to create his own shot. Newman
He has the highest number of touches amongst all SGs though, so as he gets to touch the ball more, he is going to pass more.

The Regime
He has the highest number of touches amongst all SGs though, so as he gets to touch the ball more, he is going to pass more. Good observation, but the touches statistic isn't all that surprising in regards to Kobe. Pau Gasol is our second option on offense, and he averages the second most touches among PF's, but he passes the ball over half the time (51.1%). He's way too passive, and at times he doesn't look to score as much as we would want him to. Fisher and Artest can't do anything off the dribble, so it's pointless keeping the ball in their hands, and Bynum is a "black hole" so the ball doesn't find its way to him many a times. The fact of the matter is that the offense has to run though Kobe to be effective, and that's why he has the highest number of touches amongst SG's. Guys are either incapable of making something happen with the ball or are either too passive and reliant on Kobe.
