Multi-Billionaire
I think one of the visions the Nets had when they made this trade was when they brought in Kidd from Suns in 2000. Even Kidd when he was on the Suns, was considered an All Star but never a superstar. In his first year as a Net, he single-handedly turned around the losing culture and led them to NBA Finals and he became a MVP candidate and legitimate superstar. More than anything he was their leader night in, night out. Deron is also an All Star, but few consider him a superstar... can he be what Jason Kidd became after he became a Net: an MVP candidate, legitimate superstar, leader... can he turn the Nets around from losers to winners? I think he can, he's the foundation. He makes everyone involved with those passes.
Newman
No, because Jason Kidd made all the athletic guys i.e. Jefferson, Kenyon Martin and shooters i.e. Kerry Kittles and Luscious Harris, better by letting them do what they do best (dunks and shoot jumpers respectively). Deron Williams just don't have that sort of influence on other players and while Brook Lopez, Anthony Morrow, Travis Outlaw and Kris Humphries are arguably a better supporting cast than the supporting cast of the 2000 Nets, Deron won't make the Nets win 20 games more like Kidd did. JYD
Nah, the roster was better then...Of course, he should make them better. I think they MIGHT be able to somehow find a way to sneak into the 8th seed...but I highly doubt it.
