and you think Deron's signing that extension? with all due respect, that roster's garbage outside of Lopez and D-Will.

I understand that concept, but who are the Nets going to acquire in the next few years to put them over the top? it's not like every summer is 2010.

even with Williams and Lopez, the Nets still need another star or two to be a title contender. they won't sign Dwight because they have Lopez and they won't sign Paul because they have Williams. so, I just don't see how this team would become a serious contender in the next few years even with D-Will on the roster.

there's three ways of improving a team - trades, drafts, and free agency.

like I said, there's not much available to them in the way of free agency the next couple years. they don't have great trade assets anymore since trading Favors and Harris, and it's not like they'll be getting a top five pick this year or next.

so yeah, maybe they go out and sign AK47 and a couple more good role players. that's still not a championship team by any means. D-Will would be much better off going to the Knicks or the Clippers in that case.

What makes you think the Nets can't land Dwight next season? Given the current age of superstars wanting out, GM's are constantly looking to put their team in the best position moving forward, so I'm sure they will at least field some offers for Dwight this time next year, ESPECIALLY if they don't win a ring this year. Brook Lopez and a few pieces here and there should do the trick because really, what better options are out there for Orlando?

In 2006, the Celtics were in a similar situation, and I'm sure you were doubting their ability to build a true contender for years to come given that roster, right? So much can happen in this league in such a short period of time, I'm sorry but you're not using your head right now.

So what else are they gonna do? Sit back and relax or try to build a championship team?

Dwight is not going anywhere besides LA in 2012.

I don't think we will sign him but if LeBron has taught us anything it's that writers aren't very credible.

I'm not using my head? you're talking about Dwight Howard joining the Nets lmao.

that's extremely unlikely, dude. so much would have to happen for that to become a reality:

  • Dwight decides he wants out of Orlando
  • Dwight decides he wants to play in Jersey
  • Jersey offers the best package for Dwight
  • Dwight and Williams both agree to extensions

I definitely don't see that happening, ever, but w/e.

I'm gonna stop debating this now though because no one's gonna change anyone's mind.

if y'all think the Nets are gonna keep D-Will and become a serious title contender in the next few years, go ahead lol.

Fixed it for you.

And nobody has stated he's staying...but you are the only one saying he's leaving lol.

I'm not the only one who has proposed the idea of Dwight coming to the Nets, Rich Bucher stated the possibility earlier today, and it just seems like a logical fit given his current situation. I don't understand how it is unlikely at all.

I don't - it's my opinion.

my stance on this deal all along has been this - if D-Will signs an extension, it's a great deal for Jersey. if he leaves, they made an absolutely horrible deal.

So no positive can come out of having a top five point gaurd on your roster for a year and a half?

[*]Dwight decides he wants out of Orlando

He's already said it's winning this year or he's leaving. Now it's not a guarantee that he does, but after seeing multiple superstars leave for larger markets, I don't see why he wouldn't.

[*]Dwight decides he wants to play in Jersey

Not everyone is going to pull a Carmelo and publicly state that he wants to go to a specific team...

[*]Jersey offers the best package for Dwight

There's a strong possibility that they do. Brook Lopez is an enticing piece that's still on his rookie contract.

[*]Dwight and Williams both agree to extensions

Williams has stated that there's a strong possibility that he does sign, so if he does, it only makes the Nets a more attractive option for future FA's.
