Universe Posted June 7, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 7, 2011 The Nets held their third individual workout Tuesday, but this was the first where there was a prospect, aka an "athlete" who the team could take at #27. Iman Shumpert, Georgia Tech's 6'5" combo guard, was the star of the show. Now projected at #22 by Draft Express, Shumpert's athleticism caught Billy King's attention. "Iman he has great athleticism," King said. "He’s very strong and defensively he’s got some upside. He’s got a lot of tools you like". The other athlete, DeAndre Liggins, a 6'6" defensive oriented swingman, could also be in the mix if the Nets buy a pick late in the second, where's projected. "He’s somebody who can really defend," said the Nets GM. "He can play a lot of positions. He played the point. Shumpert is gonna be good player. Can defend all three perimeter positions and play both backcourt spots. He'd be a good pick at 27. He could be like Sefolosha, but better offensively. Couple teams are pretty high on him.Yeah in Febuary he was ranked in the second round and now I've even seen a few mocks with him in the top 15 which may be pushing it. If we stay put, Justin Harper is atop the list at this point. JaJuan Johnson is another possibility. Nolan Smith and Josh Selby have been mentioned at #36 if available. I don't mind grabbing one rookie but if we are aiming to be winners, having three rookies on the squad isn't always the best root. Universe Posted June 24, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 24, 2011 Reports out of Europe, confirmed by team officials, indicate that Bojan Bogdanovic, the 6'7" swingman who the Nets acquired in a complicated three way deal Thursday, will stay in Europe, with his Turkish team for the 2011-12 season. He will join the Brooklyn Nets the following season. Bogdanovic, who can play both wings, recently signed a three year deal with Fenerbahce of Turkey, one of Europe's top organizations. With a buyout, he'd be available at the end of this season. Also, details of the trade were reported early Friday. After the Heat took Bogdanovic at #31, he was dealt to the Timberwolves in exchange for the #28 pick, Norris Cole.
