Do People Still Think The Knicks Make A Poor Trade?

I know there are a lot of delusional Knicks fans and basketball fans in general on this site that thought they gutted their team by giving up players that are a dime a dozen for one of the few elite players in the NBA, but after a few games, have people's views changed at all?

This team is winning a title very soon, and will definately win one before the Heat even sniff one. When you have the best PF and best SF in the game, you're going places. Amare will be blocking shot after shot while dropping 30+ many times, and Melo will be doing his thing,,..

Why are you so obsessed with one dimensional players?

EDIT: I know the Knicks won the deal and have been calling the Knicks stupid for even taking this long, but Knicks still have a ways to go before they are contending for a title.

I'm not obsessed with Bosh, Paul, or Howard, so I'm not sure what you're trying to get at?

Also, my one dimensional team will smack any team you could put together.

PG- Nash/Williams

SG- Ray Allen

SF- Melo

PF- Amare

C- Perkins

Game over, I win.

What about this team:

PG: Salary cap

SG: New Collective Bargaining Agreement

SF: Reduction in total salaries

PF: Abolition of the mid-level exception

C: Human desire for players to not take salary cuts just to play with Stoudemire/Melo.

And there's less than a 1% chance of the Knicks winning a title with their roster as presently constructed and there's no guarantee Paul/Williams join the Knicks.

I agree with Erick on a couple of things, not on everything.

The Knicks made the right move getting Carmelo. I think you take the chance if you're presented with it.

However, the new CBA could ruin everything for New York, and they may find out it's going to be hell trying to bring in players that will contribute to a contending team.

Put 82 games under their belt, and they are a top four team in the East. However, that won't translate into an ECF berth, because they are still a wreck on defense (one game doesn't mean shit), and Amare needs to be playing at the four (and Turiaf is a mess).

If salary restrictions, reductions, and signing restrictions are put into play, the importance of role players (starting and bench) becomes magnified. New York would have to look to the draft to bring in the talent they need to build a championship team with, and that's going to be difficult to do when your team is a 50-win squad every season...enough wins to make the playoffs and have HCA for the first round or so, not enough losses to get into the lottery.
