SRV
Every time I go to the youtube website and click a video, the video does not start up and the play button doesn't show. I can watch videos linked in this website, but I can't go to youtube and watch a video. Any ideas? http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d27/Br0keUrAnkl3s/problem.png Thats what it looks like
Owner Real Deal Posted March 16, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 An ad-blocker will ruin it for you these days. Some YouTube vids won't play if you're blocking their ads (same with NFL.com's videos).
Cobb
I'm having the same problem on sites like nbc and espn. Problem is that I don't even recall installing an adblocker.
SRV
I don't know if thats the problem. It worked fine yesterday, but today no video works. It also works on internet explorer. I am using chrome now and it doesn't work.
Owner Real Deal Posted March 16, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 Clear cookies and cache, see what happens.
SRV
Didn't work. Is anyone else using chrome and having this problem? I also discovered that it works on chrome when I open an incognito window...which makes no sense since its the same exact browser. Owner Real Deal Posted March 16, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 Is it an updated version of Chrome?
Owner Real Deal Posted March 16, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 Go to Tools > Extensions and list them in here.

magicbalala245
My brother had this problem but with Safari and he has no ad blockers on or any extension installed either.
Owner Real Deal Posted March 16, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 Hmm...could be a YouTube problem? Try watching a bunch of different vids. See if there are any you can actually watch. Can you hear audio?
SRV
The video just doesn't start,...its just a black screen and the little bar under the video that lets you play or pause does not even appear. I have tried all types of videos but none of them work. It works on other browsers, it works when the videos are embedded on another website, and it even works on chrome when I open an incognito window. I just don't know why it won't work on normal chrome.
Owner Real Deal Posted March 16, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 That's weird. If it wasn't opening in the incognito window, it would be much easier to figure out. It just gives me this feel that it's more about the cookies/cache settings, but I still don't get it. I'll look into it, instead of throwing out these random ideas. SRV
Found the problem....adobe flash player had an update and it didn't pop up until I restarted my computer.
Owner Real Deal Posted March 17, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted March 17, 2011 That really fixed it? That's pretty weird...just doesn't seem like it would be a problem if it wasn't one not too long ago. Then again, if you had just updated Chrome, that would make sense. Cobb
Still having this ongoing problem. Just tried to watch a video on cnn.com and I could press play, but the video went to black screen. This is really starting to piss me off.
