So this is what Delaware's taxpayer money goes to?

of all the things cops have done, this is nowhere near the worst, but the fact it was caught on camera makes it so much worse. that lady should be fired and fed to the dogs

1,2,3 - Pretty sure there was some sort of zoning problem and they weren't allowed to have their hoops cemented in wherever they were... something about the public/shared property, I'd assume. Not saying that I agree with any of it, but that's likely why they were allowed to do it.

As for your last post, no, I can't merge topics. Can't lock them, either.

Yeah prob not allowed to have the hoop at the coldesac like that because that's not their driveway. one of my friends has his hoop at his coldesac and the snow plows just completely destroy the pole every time they could through. it's pretty much ruined now lol

well, I found my answer.

DelDOT removed the hoops last Friday in an enforcement of a 2005 "clear zone" law that requires the area adjacent to pavements in residential developments to be free of obstructions such as basketball hoops and bushes.

laws are laws, I guess, but the police were still complete and utter douches in the way they handled this. they lied to the man and tried taking advantage of his constitutional rights. they wrote an excerpt about this incident on infowars.

As the founders knew, without property rights, we are slaves. If the right to property is denied, all other rights fall by the wayside.

“The right to property is rooted in the right we have to the free use of our own mind and talents, which it is government’s job to protect,” James Madison wrote.

In Delaware, the state has demonstrated its utter contempt for property rights and the individual, as the following video reveals. DelDOT forcibly removes a man’s basketball hoop and a state bureaucrat tells the man – as armed agents of the state stand nearby – to go back in his house. He no longer has the right to his property or his liberty. He is a slave at the mercy of the state.

this is the best article. it explains the whole situation.

What's not clear is why DelDOT and police decided to dump the hoop into a truck and take it away. Before the pole came out of the ground, an officer told John McCafferty that everyone had the option of DelDOT laying the poles in the driveway after they were removed. Inexplicably, the officer then denied making that statement to John McCafferty after the pole came out of the ground. The officer urged the McCafferty family to go inside and stop "taunting" workers. John and Melissa McCafferty refused, citing their right to stand on their front lawn and complain.
