EastCoastNiner
Do any of you ever go to worldstarhiphop? I get links there every day, and it's honestly always the same thing. It's mainly African Americans getting involved in fights, often being filmed by other African Americans who are always saying "Yo, this is going on wolrdstarhiphop my dude". I don't mind the site, but this is honestly one of the reasons there are so many stereotypes about African Americans when it comes to perceived behavior. I guess my point is, I think it's stupid for many African Americans to say they are judged unfairly, but this crap is "cool" to film and post. I just think it gives a bad image. Example: http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhsK7IJrd18RE6En53 This is exactly why stereotypes exist. There are plenty of videos of white people and other races fighting, but there are so many more of African Americans, especially like the video I posted. Kicking and stomping people while they are down? Yah, gtfo of here. Edited April 8, 2011 by EastCoastNiner
Flash
I go on Worldstar all the time because some of the shit on there is [expletive]ing hilarious. However, I do see what you're saying about it promoting a certain image about Blacks. IMO, it only makes things worse in terms of race relations for most people. I couldn't care less though. YugoRocketsFan
I dont think African Americans get stereotyped because of World Star Hip Hop, I think the crime statistics are why African-Americans get stereotyped.
JYD
The stereotypes of African-American's existed far before WSHH, but I guess I can see what you're saying. Ignorant black people piss me off lmao

Ignorant black people piss me off lmao Of course they existed way before WSHH, but I just find it interesting how most of the people filming these fights involving mainly African Americans are always saying something like, "Oh, damn, this is going on WSHH, yeahhh!!!". They're always excited to film and show these fights, but the every day people wonder why African Americans (I'm generalizing) often get a bad reputation for violence, besides the statistics. I honestly don't care too much, but it's just another reason that a lot of people still believe in certain stereotypes. I mean, the ignorance that surrounds the African-American community largely stems from the Social and Economic inequalities in America that still exist, ex. being Black's generally go to poorer schools than White's, which continues vicious cycles, and basically prolongs this ignorance that you see being filmed on sites like WSHH, etc. etc.

Some of the stereotypes have merit, especially when African Americans are ten times as likely to commit a violent crime than whites are. At the end of the day, society as a whole is moving forward, so playing the "inequality" card isn't really going to fly, especially when we have a president of African American descent. Flash
This is a touchy subject, so I'm going to try and be as politically correct as possible here. IMO, the only thing holding down blacks is black culture. It has become socially acceptable in the black community to speak poor english, dress like you're in the hood, disregard the importance of responsibility and education and plenty of other things that people associate with black culture today. The problem also doesn't only happen in the inner city either. A lot of middle class black families are also allowing their kids to act this way as well and its dragging down the black culture. IMO that is what causes the current stigma that people have towards blacks. The point is, is that there are a lot of negatives being allowed to be socially accepted in the black culture and that's why people have the views like they do. That's just my 2 cents on the matter. Education leads to less ignorance. As I state below, years of going to poorer schools, etc. is just the build up of a vicious cycle that produces results such as the crime rates, 1/3 black men going to jail, etc. This is a touchy subject, so I'm going to try and be as politically correct as possible here. Doesn't change overnight, let's get realistic and stop living in our fantasy lands here guys.
