McNabb to Minnesota talk heating up

We’ve noted from time to time this offseason that Vikings coach Leslie Frazier is sending mixed signals about what the team plans to do at quarterback this year, and that acquiring a veteran like Donovan McNabb could be an option.

 

But we haven’t seen anyone make so bold a statement about the Vikings’ quarterback situation as the St. Paul Pioneer Press makes today, with a headline reading, “It’s looking like Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback next season will be Donovan McNabb.”

 

Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot of substance to the story below the headline. The story notes that Frazier and Vikings G.M. Rick Spielman are noncommittal about their starting quarterback, and that McNabb “makes the most sense.”

 

And maybe he does. Picking at No. 12, the Vikings probably won’t get a shot at either of the top two quarterbacks in this year’s draft, Cam Newton or Blaine Gabbert, and if they don’t draft a quarterback they’re probably going to want a veteran who can step right in and start in their offense, and McNabb fits that bill.

 

 

This would be a good fit, if they can not get the QB they want in the draft.
