kingfish
When thinking about teams possibly trying to lose to avoid certain playoff matchups in the first round, it got me thinking. Do teams actually try to lose some games? Wether it be for draft purposes, or to avoid playoff seedings. Do they actually talk about it in the locker room before the game. "Ok guys its the last game of the season, if we win we probably end up playing the Lakers, if we lose we play the Spurs. You guys more comfortable with the Spurs? Okay lets go out there and lose then." Makes me wonder if teams try to lose on purpose sometimes.
Owner Real Deal Posted April 12, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted April 12, 2011 That, or some coaches actually alter their rotations. Some give reasons (such as how they need to rest their guys). I'm sure it happens. Sometimes, coaches would rather play it smart and go with the easier road, if it presents itself.
Finch23
It happened twice tonight. Pop benches Dice,Manu, Parker, and Duncan. Main reason is because the Spurs would rather face OKC in the 2nd round then have LA fall to that bracket. Memphis did it as well, they want the Spurs in round 1... I'm sure the players know what's going on... Edited April 13, 2011 by Finch23
Poe
You don't tank by telling players to play worse. You just play worse players.
DaFranchise03
Teams dont want to mess with their players mind and get them to believe they cant beat a certain team. They got to do it subtly like the Griz did.
EastCoastNiner
Is it the time of year for this stupid topic again? Players themselves to not try to "tank". The management position may have an effect on whether or not their team is in a position to tank, but players do not try and tank themselves.
