Owner Real Deal Posted April 25, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 Kobe just given crutches to use because of sprained left ankle. Kobe not going to postgame interview room. Will talk in locker room to save some steps.http://twitter.com/#!/KevinDing/status/62384744104595457 Kobe said it is foot that hurts and is swollen besides ankle, but he said he has played through so many such injuries he expects to again.http://twitter.com/#!/KevinDing/status/62387017245409280 Nothing good about this. I'm worried if it's the foot. MRI tomorrow.

Sun Tzu
Damn, that sucks for the Lakers. I was almost certain he'd go off when he tweaked that ankle.
Flash
If its a foot I'd be very worried. Look at how long a freak foot injury has kept Udonis out this year.

*Swish*
Kobe always plays when he's injured. Take off one arm, he'll play with the other. If one player has to play through injuries it's Kobe. He won't let his team down. He's a warrior. Hope he'll be alright though because he's not god either. Won't go against nature. Season over. And im serious. What a good fan you are! Your team won against Blazers last year without Kobe. Lakers have a good team that could really pick up the slack. They just have to find away to stop CP3 and intercept as much passes as possible (for Ariza and Carl to have lots of missed opportunities)
Check my Stats
Season over. And im serious. As usual Kobe fans are more concerned about his injuries than Kobe himself. A 50% Kobe Bryant, LA should still easily beat New Orleans. That just requires everyone else do something, yes Pau, we're all looking at you Edited April 25, 2011 by Check my Stats
Warren2ThaG
It's serious but will tough it out, I hope he's tough enough to go all the way
GamerGuy
LAL saying it's Kobe's ankle, not foot as Kobe said last night (it's all related anyway). Further tests are unlikely. Phil Jackson talked to Kobe, who told him that he'd play tomorrow. No real new info on the ankle/foot, just Kobe's word.
Jenneral
He'll play and probably put up one of the most amazing games in playoff history. That's just how he is.
Owner Real Deal Posted April 25, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 From Shane Bien (who has a few ties with people that cover the Lakers, such as Pincus and Ding)... I am hearing rumors that its a stress fracture in his foot. This is NOT confirmed. Let's just hope for the best, bc if it is a stress fracture, this season could be over sooner than all of us want it to be Kobe may avoid MRI. If he gets the MRI and it shows significant injury, he may not get medical clearance to play. Thus by saying he's "fine" he can play. And from Kevin Ding... Lakers spokesman John Black said club is still uncertain if Kobe will get tests done, but probably will not. He doesn't want to. I honestly don't like this. If it's a stress fracture, he needs to get an MRI. I don't really care if it ends his season. I don't want him to ruin the rest of his career for one single title run. The Regime
Nothing has been confirmed yet so I'm not going to jump to conclusions. I would hate to see a serious injury hinder our chances of threepeating though.
Owner Real Deal Posted April 26, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted April 26, 2011 Chris Broussard wrote on his Twitter account that Kobe was out for the rest of the playoffs with a severe sprain, but now it's deleted.
Legacy
Man, I hope he's good enough to play and not risk it for the rest of his career.

Owner Real Deal Posted April 26, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted April 26, 2011 Ditto. I admire the compettive spirit in him but refusing to take the MRI is just plain stupid.I'm flip-flopping. Kobe has played through a lot of injuries. I'm not sure what's going on with the foot/ankle, but he has earned the right to make that decision for himself, I guess. I don't know. Dash
Lol I don't mind that he plays but he should at the very least figure out what exactly he is dealing with.
Owner Real Deal Posted April 26, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted April 26, 2011 Lol I don't mind that he plays but he should at the very least figure out what exactly he is dealing with.Well, the rule is, if he gets the MRI and they find a break, he won't have medical clearance to play. The NBA will force him to sit. Phil made the statement tonight that Bryant isn't letting anyone deal with it. He's calling the shots. I hate it because it's a scary feeling, as an athlete, to not know what's wrong...but it's Kobe, not me.
Owner Real Deal Posted April 26, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted April 26, 2011 I'll say this much: I know for a fact that Kobe thinks something is wrong, that it's a major injury. What athlete would bypass an x-ray AND an MRI? He's avoiding it just in case...
Dash
After all the injuries I'm sure Yao Ming knows his body pretty well too but after he "sprained" his foot earlier in the season, he ended up needing a season ending surgery. Not that that situation is the same as Kobe's but you do not run that risk especially when you consider all the wear and tear in Kobe through all these years. If Kobe takes the MRI and finds out that its a minor injury then great we fussed over nothing but if its something serious like a break...why are you even playing? andre smoothwhite
Kobe will play dont listen to no bull shit, he'll play no matter how banged up he is.
The Artesticle
if its a major injury to his foot or ankle, as resilient as Kobe is, he's still a human being. There's no way he would be able to play through a game under those conditions at a high level. We'll find out tonight the real extent of his injury.
