Yea but in 08 this online stuff was just a baby, now its like a way of life. You can talk to friends, play games with friends, watch movies, buy stuff...and so on. Some people make money off the videos they put out on this stuff too.

Hearing some of PSN will be back up and running tomorrow. And XBOX haters.. your shit was down for like 2 weeks in '08. So :P

PSN deserves all the hate its getting, how do you let your network get hacked and all of your customers information stolen? It's pretty pathetic when you think about it...

'down' as in you could still get online and communicate, but at some hours matchmaking didn't work..hmm....better than nothing and having your data stolen I guess. Plus MS made up for it.

whose data was stolen?

that wasn't the extent of xbox 'down', I owned an xbox at the time. lol. but ok.

and PS is already saying they're making up for it. free ps+ and a free game download.

so.. whomp whomp. you could get online and send other users messages, all better. lmao.

Same way computers get viruses, some fruitcake with nothing better to do than sit around devising ways to [expletive] with other people spent days and weeks in a dark basement figuring out a way to hack the network. Again, there's no proof that information was stolen.. lol.

Shit sucks, all they can do is make sure it's better now.

Not bashing xbox, shit happens.. but don't sit back and say your shit is flawless when it was down 2 weeks for some expansion malfunctions, lol.

Nah, you're right.. I mean online stuff was around with PS2, but I get what you're saying. Security was lighter and not as well funded because it's a free service, and they [expletive]ed up. But.. as shown with the xbox '08 fiasco, maybe it's one [expletive] up that makes you get serious and ensure it doesn't happen again.

just want to clarify that i don't disagree with this.. just addressing the short-sightedness of chest pounding xbox users who forget their shit was down during the biggest holiday season of the year for almost two weeks.

it wasn't down. just because matchmaking in some games wasn't working doesn't mean the service as a whole was down.

lol it was down.. there was a period where it came back up, and CoD was still bonked and not working properly.. but for the most part it was down. couldn't access accounts, couldn't make transactions, etc etc. this was right around when i bought my first xbox, so i was there haha.

I'm not sure why anyone is taking shots at Sony for this. I hope everyone realizes that there's absolutely no network, installation, website, etc. that is safe from hacking. None. If someone wanted Live down, it's down just like that, with the entire database stolen.

I find that very hard to believe, especially because I'm sure many people want live down
