JYD
(Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum). I've had enough of these clowns on NBATV. They have driven me crazy watching the Hawks/Magic series on this station, as well as the Spurs/Grizz game tonight and also one of the Bulls/Pacers games. Ok, first of all, let me start by asking, was the game tonight a radio broadcast being used as a TV broadcast? The two announcers were terrible, and they announced it as if they were on the radio. It was just a terrible overall analysis of the game by Brevrin Knight, some of the corniest calls I've ever heard by the PBP guy as well. The thing that pisses me off this most is probably the nicknames of the guys they consistently call them, it's so unprofessional. You don't hear the top announcers like Breen (Hate him though), Tirico, Marv Albert, etc. calling guys Z-BO constantly on every jumpshot he throws up. And the biggest thing, is what's with them calling the guys by the first names? Dorrell? Sam? OJ? Tim? Like, wtf, man. People know players in professional sports by their last name, unless it's an unusual first name like Carmelo, Amare, Kobe, LeBron, etc. You don't call Dorrell Arthur DORRELL consistently. Or OJ Mayo, OJ...It's really obnoxious. And on the pre-game/post-game show, Chris Webber is the worst of all time. He can barely get his thoughts out, one of the most unintelligent igonorant people on the planet, and don't even get me started on when he actually announces games, holy [expletive] is he bad... /rant. JYD
^Not sure who that is, but everyone I've heard on NBATV is horrible. Greg Anthony is alright. He's somewhat decent; at least he can formulate speech. If NBATV wants to be taken serious going forward as a station and make the NBA look better, they need to put guys on their that are articulate and can speak well. No more Brevrin Knight's and Chris Webber's. SMH.
Built Ford Tough
Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't that the Grizzlies announce team? I only saw the last minute of regulation, but I'm fairly certain that was the Grizzlies team. Don't games on NBATV usually have team broadcasts? They don't have specific broadcast teams like TNT or ESPN do. At least that is what I always thought. It is kind of common for team announcers to call players by nicknames and first names and things like that. They aren't supposed to be impartial like a Marv Albert is supposed to be. WTF is NBATV having the Grizzles team doing the game? Send some decent announcers over there, jeez. That was just a terrible broadcast. At times, it really ruined the game for me. It was such a great game but listening to them just made me SMH. And then they'd cut to get reactions from Webber/Anthony and it was just a nightmare. AboveLegit
Yeah that was the Memphis broadcast team. As for the local broadcasters, I don't mind them too much, but some of them do get to me. But you gotta understand, they are much more closer to the team they're covering than a Marv Albert or Mike Breen, so it isn't too unprofessional to have nicknames for some players. You don't overuse nicknames, and you don't constantly call guys by their first name. Maybe occassionally to switch things up, but 8/10 times they called Dorrell Arthur Dorrell. Lol. I mean, it does make it more acceptable because they were the local broadcast team. I still put more emphasis on the NBA finding guys who can broadcast from a neutral standpoint and be decent on the mic, lol.
fish7718
Considering they were calling Randolph's rebounds Zbounds I'd say it was fairly obvious that it was the local Memphis announcers. NBA TV doesn't have it's own announcers it only broadcasts games from other stations. The announcing was fine IMO, you are overly nitpicky with the things you are saying. Infact if I were next to you I'd probably smack you for being a little baby...j/k
Abro
On nba tv.. They just broadcast games from like I.e. sunsports from theee miami heat, they only have their own announcers at like half time n stuff. That's why they are so biased toward certain teams. The home teams.
Finch23
They shouldn't have local announcers do playoff games IMO. NBA LP should always allow you to pick which "call" you want. The Spurs have some annoying announcers no doubt, but I wouldn't want to listen to anyone else. I'm paying money to hear them not the Timberwolves dudes... As for Sean Elliott and Bill Land, of course they are biased. The majority of local sports announcers are and it appeals more to the fans of their respective teams.
