Owner Real Deal Posted April 28, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted April 28, 2011 "I wouldn't compare them," said Jackson, who coached both. "I think Kobe's as good as Michael." http://www.heraldonline.com/2011/04/28/3022450/the-kobe-rules-a-unique-code-for.html Stern saying Kobe is up there with Mike, at the end of the audio. http://c.espnradio.com/audio/580361/genericaudio_2011-04-27-173501.mp3 ------ I may be posting this more for what Phil said, because I got a laugh out of him saying that he wouldn't compare them...yet, in the next sentence, he says that Kobe is as good as MJ. I think Phil's opinion has changed over time, though. Seeing Bryant all jacked up, barely walking, and coming out two days later and taking over parts of the game in the playoffs...it's what Jordan was doing when he had the flu, or busted his finger, and Kobe's prime has lasted so long, it's nothing short of amazing. AboveLegit
It really is incredible how much he has endured over the years, I remember hearing people talk about how he's on the decline, and he won't be the same after Shaq leaves. He just keeps fighting. What's even more impressive is how much he has changed over the years. From being a great second fiddle, to one of the greatest offensive talents ever, to a great well rounded leader. He's definitely the closest we've seen since Jordan, but he's still not on MJ's level. I think he just said that just to say it. He didn't actually compare them as in saying one is better at the other is better at this. He was just like "yeah they are just as good as each other." Makaveli
I never thought Phil would say something like this. WOW. Considering how great a player is individually, Kobe is definitely up there with Jordan.. but this coming out of Jackson's mouth.. i'm stunned. Owner Real Deal Posted April 29, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted April 29, 2011 Haha, very true, it's best we just shut up and let Phil and Stern say what they want. They have been around Jordan and Kobe most or all of their careers.
