"I wouldn't compare them," said Jackson, who coached both. "I think Kobe's as good as Michael."

Stern saying Kobe is up there with Mike, at the end of the audio.

I may be posting this more for what Phil said, because I got a laugh out of him saying that he wouldn't compare them...yet, in the next sentence, he says that Kobe is as good as MJ.

I think Phil's opinion has changed over time, though. Seeing Bryant all jacked up, barely walking, and coming out two days later and taking over parts of the game in the playoffs...it's what Jordan was doing when he had the flu, or busted his finger, and Kobe's prime has lasted so long, it's nothing short of amazing.

It really is incredible how much he has endured over the years, I remember hearing people talk about how he's on the decline, and he won't be the same after Shaq leaves. He just keeps fighting.

What's even more impressive is how much he has changed over the years. From being a great second fiddle, to one of the greatest offensive talents ever, to a great well rounded leader. He's definitely the closest we've seen since Jordan, but he's still not on MJ's level.

I think he just said that just to say it. He didn't actually compare them as in saying one is better at the other is better at this. He was just like "yeah they are just as good as each other."
