Hopefully he does sign with Fox Sports. They can get him on Pac12 and Big10 basketball and football, throw him into the NFL on Fox, and maybe have him replace Joe Buck for MLB broadcasts. Then Fox will have the best play by play man in all the best events.

Nevermind.

He's absolutely terrible. He's almost as bad as Joe Buck and Joe Morgan.

Blasphemy.

Gus is the GOAT. A pairing of him and Bill Raftery for a college game would be unbeatable. Buck is WOAT but I used to love Joe Morgan. Buck is living off his father's name. Dude is [expletive]ing horrific.

In terms of enthusiasm, Gus is easily one of the best. But his prep isn't very good and often botches stats or names. That said, March Madness will be much different without Gus because he and Nantz are the most established names surrounding that tournament.

And let's not get carried away, few if any are as bad as Buck or Morgan.

edit: just posted

Earlier today, Richard Deitsch of SI.com reported that play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson has left CBS.

Now, Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News calls Deitsch’s report “premature.”

Raissman reports that, as Deitsch reported, Johnson’s deal with CBS has expired. Raissman reports that Johnson has received an offer from FOX to handle NFL and Pac-12 play-by-play duties. But Raissman also reports that the offer from FOX has not yet been presented to CBS, and that CBS will have one week to match it.

Raissman fails to explain whether Johnson is contractually obligated to give CBS an opportunity to match, or whether Johnson is merely shopping the FOX offer.

Given the conflicting reports, it would make sense for Johnson or his agent to set the record straight sooner rather than later
