Al-Qaida vows revenge for Osama bin Laden's death

Recommended Posts

CAIRO – Al-Qaida confirmed the killing of Osama bin Laden Friday and vowed revenge, saying Americans' "happiness will turn to sadness" in the first statement by the terror network since its leader was slain in a U.S. commando raid against his Pakistani hideout.

The confirmation came as newly uncovered documents found in bin Laden's residence revealed al-Qaida plans for derailing an American train on the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Terror experts have said bin Laden's death on Monday was a setback for al-Qaida but the threat of attacks remains and could even spike in coming days from individuals or small extremist groups inspired to take revenge for the killing.

The statement, dated Tuesday but posted Friday on militant websites, opens the way for the group to name a successor to bin Laden. His deputy Ayman al-Zawahri is now the most prominent figure in the group and a likely contender to take his place.

"The blood of the holy warrior sheik, Osama bin Laden, God bless him, is too precious to us and to all Muslims to go in vain," the statement said. "We will remain, God willing, a curse chasing the Americans and their agents, following them outside and inside their countries."

"Soon, God willing, their happiness will turn to sadness," it said, "their blood will be mingled with their tears."

The group gave no indication how it will retaliate. But separate details emerged Friday showing that bin Laden was scheming how to hit the United States hard again.

Kind of expected....now security has to be at an all time high for who knows how long. Its like you know someone wants revenge on you, but it can happen at any time, maybe years down the line when you least expect it.

We can't win this battle. There are so many of these guys out there that we can kill their top commanding dude every day and they will still have a [expletive]ed up plan to execute. I trust our security is good enough to prevent any major attacks, but who knows.

as long as our border security is a joke, we'd always have a possiblity. In fact, I'd say we should worry about more gang/drug lords coming into our country from mexico/canada, then a few guys living in a cave a thousand miles away.

Instead of poring billions of u.s dollars on a impossible war to win, why don't we just tighten the border security of who and what can enter the country?

If they do anything to the U.S., it's time to obliterate the Middle East.

Have you seen the kind of shit the US is doing to the Middle East? seriously.. im not defending Al Qaeda but this is ridiculous, America IS NOT perfect.

America is trying to stop terrorism, hence the war on terror, which is why Osama's death was so huge.

The Al-Qaida just want to kill for the sake of it.

It doesn't mean America's perfect, but the recent death of Osama is only a positive in the world's process of ending terrorism.

and we're going to fight an unwinnable war and go bankrupt in the process just like the Soviets in Afghanistan. That is bin Laden's goal.

Lol. Very true point.

I can see both sides to this. First off, I can see WHY these extremists absolutely hate America. I'm not justifying what they have done or did on September 11th WHATSOEVER. So don't go all Rashard Mendenhall on me - I'm just saying I can understand WHY they feel the WAY THEY DO. That, however, is no reason to kill 3,000 innocent Americans.

We'll see what they do. It's pretty much impossible to win the war on terrorism though. There's always going to be nutcases from the Middle East who could strap a bomb to in a backpack and walk into a grocery store and blow it up. Really, how do you stop that? You really can't. We just have to try to limit the amount who join Al-Queda I guess.

How strong Al-Queda is and how serious of a force they are is very debatable IMO. How much power do they actually have? Could they actually pull off another 9/11? I'm not going to say it's impossible - I guess it is certainly possible - but, if they do that again, what do we do? I can understand where ECN's frustration comes with "bomb the entire middle"...I mean, seriously, if the same enemy pulls off another 9/11, how do you respond? I mean, we can't let them strike fear in our everyday lives.

People killing people is never gonna stop. More people have died from American vs American violence in one year than Al-Qaida has done in total on USA soil.

It's sad that it will never be the same again and it really pisses me off when I try and cross a border that is less than 15 minutes from my house but that is the fear tatic they have provided and are winning.

I'm obviously being extreme when I say we should obliterate the Middle East, but the reality is, this isn't the 1600's anymore. Countries have high powered weapons, chemical weapons, and nukes. Terrorists have access to many deadly weapons today, and I think there is a right to be very concerned about what it happening.

All it takes is one attack, and the world could change to a place that very few could imagine. I know people are "aware" that there is a threat, but I think that threat is a lot more serious than people want to think.

Lol, how can anyone "understand" why they hate Western culture so much? Anyone playing the America is to blame card should have their citizenship revoked ASAP. GTFOH with the whole America is to blame shit. There's no reason to hijack [expletive]ing planes and fly them into a national landmark like that.

Alright, Mr. history teacher, please explain the acceptable reason why terrorists are flying planes into buildings in our country.

Talk about ignorant......

I never said it was acceptable, you're the ignorant one putting words in my mouth. The US and Soviet Union caused plenty of problems in the 80s, and that was bin Laden's main reason to attack the US. We pretty much [expletive]ed up Afghanistan. Sorry that the US can do no wrong. Hell, here you go:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_war_in_Afghanistan

read all about it. Here is more:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghan_Civil_War_(1978-present)

BTW, the "they hate western culture" shit is the funniest excuse ever. bin Laden himself said it best:

"Let him tell us why we did not strike Sweden"

I'm not going to write the rest of the quote, because it includes some bullshit praise for al qaida members.

"While I was looking at these destroyed towers in Lebanon, it sparked in my mind that the tyrant should be punished with the same and that we should destroy towers in America, so that it tastes what we taste and would be deterred from killing our children and women."

I don't agree with his reasoning, but you have to understand where he comes from.
