Erick Blasco Posted May 8, 2011 Report Share Posted May 8, 2011 Before everyone completely absolves Kobe and Bynum as the only two players who came to play---they, along with everyone else, were culprits for the Lakers awful screen/roll coverage, closeouts, and inability to tag the three point line in transition. Kobe had a pretty solid floor game, but had no offensive help. Virtually everyone outside of Kobe was tight, especially Odom who was a disaster. This was a gutless performance. What a way for Dallas to excercise some demons after their Game 4 Portland meltdown. What a great job of keeping their composure after adversity. To think some fools on this site wanted Rick Carlisle fired after the game, though I have to eat some crow, I wanted Jason Terry fired. This team is a rigorous commitment to screen/roll defense away from winning another ring next year. Some of you guys are way too melodramatic. The Lakers do need some younger legs though, and a better bench than what Barnes, Walton, and Joe Smith could provide. The deep end of their bench has eroded away. *Swish* Posted May 8, 2011 Report Share Posted May 8, 2011 It was very hurtful for me to see Phil Jackson walk to the locker room with the head down. Same for Kobe Bryant. These two have been having such great years together and now they get swept and I don't want anyone to blame Kobe for that sweep. He's been trying to execute but the Mavericks defense was AMAZING and when Kobe dished it out to a teammate, nothing happened. I hated to see the Lakers bad plays on both ends of the floor! Dirk shooting 78% from the field against Pau is also a big disgrace to Pau's own pride.. seriously this is disgusting and If I was Pau, I would really think to start going into medicinal school (if noone knows, Pau wanted to be a doctor. He played terrible all playoffs long and the Lakers were lucky enough to win against the Hornets without him. Then you also have Artest and Fisher who played like shit all playoffs long. Couldn't knock down shots and didn't play defense properly.. As for Bynum and Odom.. they did a terrible choice of making lose themselves as sore losers. If you have to lose, lose like a champion. Other than that congrats to the Mavs because even if Artest Fisher and Gasol would of play good offensively, Dallas would of still win (with hard times though) since they played amazing defense and their offense was BALLING all series long. They executed perfectly on both ends of the floor and their three point shots were RAINING all day EVERY DAY! It was really amazing to see Terry Peja Kidd and Dirk knocking down almost all their shots and you got to give them big props to make the Lakers look like noobs out there. They're hungry for a championship and if they play like that, they have a chance to get it. Chokers chokers chokers.. well they didn't only choke the Lakers but also ate them alive. As I said in the game 3 thread the way the Lakers lost that game was the hardest for them. They had this game 3, which was obviously very important, and they just let the Mavs get back and win... That's very tough, very hard to get over. They just totally lost their confidence. And their basketball... While the Mavs, who managed to get back and win this very important game got more confident than ever and just played their best basketball. Congrats to Dallas. They were the better team, no doubt. Their bench was especially amazing. Peja, Terry, Haywood and Barea have all been terrific. Barea did to the Lakers defense in this series what Travis Best did to the Bulls defense in the 98 Pacers-Bulls in fact. Like Best at the time he was just too quick for them. I'm especially happy about this, as I already said Dirk is my fav player and the Mavs my second fav team, so I hope that they're gonna win it all. They sure can. They have the team for it. I hope that this year Dirk is gonna get his first ring at last, and that he'll stop thinking about this lousy 2006 Finals... I doubt Odom get suspended more than a game. I think that's the standard for an unnecessary hard shove. Bynum's should and will be longer, but probably not 10 games, though the fact that Barea was in a defenseless position, the foul was unprovoked, and how much of a dick move it was could warrant somewhat significant time off.
