reno
Still here for now. All of the tornadoes are rain-wrapped, which makes it nearly impossible to see from the ground. The assumed F5 (the north storm) just missed OKC metro, and is headed towards three or four towns, taking an east-northeast turn, which will bring it 0-10 miles from where I live. This stuff is terrible. I'm usually not intimidated by many things, but these last few days have changed everything. I'm really scared of what could happen. Joplin tornado was just upgraded to an F5, by the way, and now 123 are confirmed dead (and counting). I'm out. http://thelakersnation.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/81.gifBeing scared is nothing to be ashamed of,, I hate tornadoes, by far the scariest natural disaster out there imo. Hope everything is safe for you and your family.
Owner Real Deal Posted May 25, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 A tornado just completely wiped out a town in Arkansas 10 minutes ago. They are saying it's 100% gone, tornado had a mile-wide base, and the entire town took a direct hit. Denning has almost 300 people in it, so it's a very small town, but it's also only a total of 1.1 square miles in land, which is insane if you relate it to the base of the tornado. Owner Real Deal Posted May 25, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 Wow, 25 minutes north of Denning, AR, another (different) mile-wide tornado smashed a town (Etna, AR). WTF.

Oliver P
Dam that's scary what a tornado can do... Tornadoes are very rare in France. They usually occur in the North of France. And they're nothing like the ones you got in the US. The last one we got here was in 2008, in the North so, and it was a relatively small one, there were "only" 3 people dead and 9 injured.. I think it was a F2. And it's the biggest one we got in many years. I personally live in the South and I never ever experienced a tornado (I hope I never will..). Here it's sunny almost all the time, people get scared every time it rains a bit lol, so I can't imagine how they would react if they experienced something like that (I can't imagine how I would react as well anyhow..). Well anyhow all those pictures are really sad to see. Hope everything's back to normal now in those states.

Owner Real Deal Posted June 9, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted June 9, 2011 http://worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhzqBpuzu21us588KgMan, that's so difficult for me to watch. I've been through there a few times, on all of those streets.
Owner Real Deal Posted June 19, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted June 19, 2011 A few tornadoes were spotted about 15-20 miles southwest of my town, ended up pulling back up into the sky before the storm hit. So, we get hail instead. This is a neighbor's picture. He grabbed this off the ground AFTER the storm was over, so keep in mind that when the hail was pounding all of our cars, it was more in between a golf ball and a baseball, as far as size goes. When I was standing on the porch, there were a few that were pretty close to baseball-sized hail that were hitting the sidewalk, some were busting limbs out of trees. It melts very fast once it hits the ground. http://i55.tinypic.com/dw865g.jpg According to him, this one was bigger when he first picked it off the ground, and it's one that hit the hood of his car. Most of them were this size, and the hail was hitting hard for about 3-4 minutes, nonstop. Here are a couple of hailstones that are a bit larger... http://i52.tinypic.com/290qycy.jpg I might take a picture of my car tomorrow, if I'm not too angry after looking at all of the hail damage. Third time we've been hit hard this year. Roofers are eating this up, making all the money they could imagine.

Owner Real Deal Posted June 19, 2011 Author Owner Report Share Posted June 19, 2011 I can't find a picture of it right now, but these are how big they were when they hit our houses a few years back. This particular one was in Wichita, KS, of last year (Sept. 2010). http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_full_width/hash/56/85/56858ea5e2ceffa9300a828880e28f24.jpg That one was 7.75 inches in diameter. http://www.examiner.com/natural-disasters-in-national/this-hailstone-measuring-7-75-inches-diameter-fell-near-wichita-on-september-15-2010-photo This is kind of what it was like a few years back...the one I'm posting was in OKC, though.
