Owner Real Deal Posted May 25, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 Abro asked a question about the average PER of a college-to-NBA player from 2000-2005, so I decided to take a few steps beyond that (since that one answer was going to require a lot of digging) and just analyze the entire thing. Make your own conclusions. 349 players were drafted from 2000-2005. 28 of them were straight out of high school, but only 12 played 50+ games their rookie season (some because of injuries, others weren't good enough). 77 were international players, but only 19 of those 77 played 50+ games their first season. 244 were college-to-NBA rookies, and 172 of those played 50+ games from 2000-2005. The top five in PER were:Chris Paul (22.1)Yao Ming (20.6)Pau Gasol (19.5)Andrei Kirilenko (18.8)LeBron James (18.3) Four of the top five were international players and/or did not attend a US college. High school phenoms that placed high on the list:LeBron James (18.3)Dwight Howard (17.2)Al Jefferson (16.6)Amare Stoudemire (16.2) The average rookie PER among all players drafted from 2000-2005 was 12.5338 (142 rookies, 50+ games minimum, rookie season played between 2000-2005). The average rookie PER among all players straight out of HS was 14.1 (12 HS-to-NBA rookies, 50+ games minimum, rookie season played between 2000-2005). The average rookie PER among all players coming from a two or four-year college was 12.24505 (111 college-to-NBA rookies, 50+ games minimum, rookie season played between 2000-2005). The average rookie PER among all international players drafted in 2000-2005 was 13.23158 (19 international rookies, 50+ games minimum, rookie season played between 2000-2005).
