Dash
The parents of the 2-year-old boy who fell to his death at a Lakers game in November filed a suit against the owners of the Staples Center on Tuesday, CBS reports. Lucas Tang was at a Lakers game against the Golden State Warriors when he climbed over the glass barrier of one of the arena's luxury boxes and fell 50 feet, just minutes after the game ended. Tang was transported to USC Medical Center, where he later died of head injuries. The family filed the suit against Anschutz Entertainment Group and L.A. Arena Co. in Los Angeles Superior Court. The parents claim that the Staples Center did not adequately warn those sitting in the luxury boxes of the arena's hazardous design. The family's lawyer Scott Wellman said the suit is intended to prevent similar tragedies from happening, the Los Angeles Times reports. The suit asks AEG to build higher luxury box barriers. According to the paper, the suit states that "in order to obtain the highest price possible for use of the luxury boxes, the Staples Center designed and maintains the luxury boxes in a dangerous condition." Michael Roth, vice president of communications for AEG, declined to comment on the lawsuit because he had not read it, the paper reports. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2011/05/25/2011-05-25_family_sues_staples_center_over_2yearolds_fatal_50foot_fall.html#ixzz1NPQcKGzc Right, sue the owners when you should have been watching your kid. Who brings a 2 year old to a basketball game in the first place? Edited May 26, 2011 by Dash
