The NCAA has approved adding an arc three feet from the basket, inside which a defender cannot take a charge.

The organization said Thursday its Playing Rules Oversight Panel had approved several recommended rules changes for college basketball during a conference call Monday.

The women’s 3-point line will move back a foot to 20 feet, 9 inches next season, the same distance the men have used since 2008-09. In both the men’s and women’s games, the terminology for fouls will be changed to match the NBA. Intentional fouls will now be called Flagrant 1 and flagrant fouls will be called Flagrant 2.

I disagree, I love in the NCAA that you can take charges wherever, don't like that rule change at all...it's different in the NBA when most players play above the rim, but the NCAA relies heavily on get right under or next to the rim...

Lol, the charge rule in college ball is WOAT. How can you possibly think its good to take a charge right under the basket?

why do you never include a definite article in your posts? so annoying to read. "is" is not correct either. how can you argue about rules when you can't construct a sentence?

I believe I just explained that in my last post, college is a lot more about lay ups than it is dunks, so it is vital to be able to defend right next to the rim...

It doesn't matter, your momentum on a layup can still carry you straight through a defender inside the circle, therefor not making it fair for the offensive player. Seriously, how often do you see charges taken on dunks in the NBA? There are some, but not a ton, it is primarily on layups.
