Lkr
So JVG and Mark Jackson like to argue about this throughout the broadcast. I am not talking about flops where there is actually contact and it is overblown. I am talking about plays where the ref can't see and the player just falls down to get a call. If you are confused about what I am referring to, I mean in plays like the gif where Boozer turns to Bosh and Bosh falls down without being touched. There was a similar play in Game 3 where Dwyane Wade got a loose ball foul called on Jason Kidd just by acting like he was being shot while in air, while Kidd didn't have a hand on him. The ref couldn't see what was going on, so he had to make a call based on the way Wade contorted his body. I think shit like that makes the game awful to watch. I want to watch a basketball game, not people trying to do shit to get to the line the whole time. Mark Jackson thinks this is just good selling and the players are smart. I personally think it is making the game of basketball worse as a whole, and it makes me want to stop watching. A player should be punished for pulling crap like this, as JVG has said. Sħãlïq™
Should flopping be a finable offense? No, but players should get penalized for it - just like in soccer. A player should get a yellow card warning for a game-changing flopping.
Check my Stats
I just wish there were more no calls overall in the NBA.
Lkr
No, but players should get penalized for it - just like in soccer. A player should get a yellow card warning for a game-changing flopping. Most of it stems from the ref not noticing what is happening. It has to come from the league office because the refs are obviously missing it.
Flash
Lol, if it were anyone else other than D-Wade who had done that..this thread wouldn't exist. Funny how you don't mention Dirk doing the same thing to Haslem later on in the game. I hate flopping but I've come to realize its just part of the game. Nitro
Personally, no, I don't think it should. I think it'd be too difficult to govern, and there are too many shades of gray (i.e plays where there is contact but the players really sells it with the flop). I think what would work a lot better, and what would improve the overall officiating far more is adding another ref. This way each ref can have a more specific responsibility each play, and there would be less chance of a ref calling a foul on a guy because he sees a player flail his arms and fall out of the corner of his eye. Dash
Actually you can be fined for flopping, the NBA made it a rule a few years ago but it was never enforced. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3416579
SRV
Everyone would go bankrupt. How would the refs or league determine a flop? Some slops are obvious, but some you can look at it two ways, either the guy who went flying is really that soft, or he just went flying for the hell of it. I remember when Shaq flopped, but you could argue that he might have actually been really soft at that moment lol.
?QuestionMark?
They should. I hate watching guys flopping to draw a cheap foul. It was funny when it was only Vlade and Stockton who would do it. But now EVERYONE does it and it's out of control. Even soccer players laugh at guys like Piece and CP3 and Manu.
kingfish
No, its not violent, like trying to do harm to the other player, so there should be no fine or offense. However, there should be a flop stat, that way we can see who the league leaders in and nobody wants to be in that category. The refs have to do a better job of not falling for it, and learn which players flop the most.

moeroadkill
they should do something like re-viewable after the game and then the league decides weather or not its fine-worthy
Newman
I don't think it should because it is basically like drawing a foul. The purpose of players flopping is to get a call to go in their favour, not because they want other players to get ejected or whatever. It is up to the ref to decide on whether they are flopping or not.

You've come to "realize" it because you have two of the biggest floppers in the league. http://instntrply.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/boshflop.gif
htown11
As everyone gangs up on the Heat fan (surprise surprise) I think it should be fined, I really think it should be that drastic so it can just go away. It's bad for the league and it's comical every time a player does it, I also feel like it's had a lasting effect on defense as a whole. You have guys who have this SHOCKED look on there face when they commit an obvious foul, it's like a contagious disease of lies that's built into these guys. It's not one team, or a few players it's starting to become part of the game.
SRV
Do the guys that make the flopping gif's do for it other teams? Or is just for Miami? I would look some up, but I got better things to do. Im looking at you Paul Pierce, Derek Fisher and Manu.
