The Lone Granger
Ray Allen has been open to the idea of coming off the bench behind Jeff Green. http://www.rotoworld.com/images/headshots/NBA/398.jpg GM Danny Ainge has been the one floating this notion that the Celtics would be better off starting Green over Ray Allen or Paul Pierce. The idea is to save the veteran's legs while also making the Celtics more athletic in their starting five. But when push comes to shove, we don't see coach Doc Rivers pulling the trigger on this move. Allen and Pierce have earned too much respect to not be in the starting five. rotoworld Benching one of your "big three" has got to be hard. That being said, with age starting to set in on both Pierce and Allen, I don't think anyone could blame them for making the move. Green will be reading to step in and play a bigger role next year, so I expect them to at least seriously look into making the starting switch. Thoughts? Check my Stats
I don't really care how old Allen is, he is still better than Jeff Green, and P probably can't play the 2 for extended minutes anymore.
Owner Real Deal Posted June 8, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted June 8, 2011 Pierce isn't a two-guard nowadays, Green isn't a two-guard, and Ray Allen is needed because he spreads the floor. He's also a better player than Green, even at his age. Boston presented themselves with a problem when they traded for Green. They have four starters that should be in the five at tip-off, no matter what, and unfortunately, Green isn't going to play center and be that fifth starter.
