Plus, it would promote better listening. We would have to pay close attention to what Shaq says, just to understand him. Could you imagine JVG and Shaq joking with each other during a boring game? It would be fantastic.

Nitro
Walt Frazier THANK YOU!!! He made watching Knicks games throughout the '00's bearable...he's the [expletive]ing man. Shaq? Meh, I don't think he'd be a good in-game commentator. It took Mark Jackson years on YES before getting that ESPN gig, where he still sucked but not as much as before. I'd love to see Shaq on the Inside the NBA crew, where he has less of a workload, has more freedom to say what he wants and has other hilarious people to talk basketball with. Erick Blasco
My bad like I knew Kerr was under contract at TNT lmao really! Any other fun facts for me?LMFJAO PRICK I provided you with a small tidbit of information as to why Kerr wouldn't be able to work ESPN games with JVG. I typed, "TNT won't just let Kerr break contract, especially since the network values him for their March Madness coverage." I didn't type, "TNT won't just let Kerr break contract, IDIOT, especially since OBVIOUSLY the network values him for their March Madness coverage AND EVERYONE KNOWS THIS!" Chill out. In any kind of professional employment, an employee signs a contract stipulating the terms. In broadcasting, sometimes there are one-year deals, but for a guy with the prestige as Kerr who already has history with the organization, he's a known, steady product. You're not the only person who values him as a broadcaster---I, as well as lots of broadcasters do. It's why he's TNT's lead analyst. TNT will lock him up with a nice long contract, just the same way talented players get locked up with nice contracts. For example, a few years ago, Jeff Van Gundy signed a multi-year contract with ABC/ESPN for, judging by JVG's comments, five years. You can read about it here: http://www.bizofbasketball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=542:espn-and-jeff-van-gundy-reach-multi-year-agreement&catid=48:television&Itemid=61 There are penalties for breaking contracts, and there's no reason for Kerr to leave. He gets treated nicely at Turner and Turner values him. Fun facts, I met Kerr at a Turner luncheon for a freelancing gig earlier this year. He was very gracious to everyone there. One thing people forget about NBA guards. You see them in television and they look short relative to the other players. I'm average height (5-11) and I walk up to him---he towers above everybody! I forgot that he was, what, 6 foot 4? Also, Kerr's father was THE pre-eminent Middle-Eastern scholar in the 70's and 80's. He was President of the American University of Beirut and kept the school open during Civil War. He was assassinated by some terrorist that didn't understand that Kerr wasn't an American propaganda machine, but was born in Beirut and loved the Middle East. While NBA players often come from colorful backgrounds, few are cut from the cloth of elite academia. The Kerr family is filled with class and has been one of the great ambassadors for the human race, despite the adversary they've faced. GFYS My boss' father was a sportswriter in Arizona (where Steve Kerr went to college) who knew about the family. My boss is going for a doctorate in political science and has studied Steve's father extensively. When I told him about how I was at a luncheon where I met Steve Kerr he took the opportunity to fill me in on the life of Dr. Malcolm Kerr. He himself isn't a sports fan, but because of his father, his studies, and my profession, we arrived at a point of conversation that I thought was pretty cool, each of us negotiating our lenses of what we knew of the family and how we knew of them. If you can't find appreciation in that, and want to research a little bit about cool people, well, you probably have a very insular way of looking at the world. And I'll speak to you like a human being, the way you deserve to be spoken to. If you're in Brooklyn anytime soon, I'll gladly tell you face to face that getting upset at every minor thing and being that insecure probably won't take you far. There's no shame in being wrong. I once called Dirk the 10th best power forward in the game (HaHA, remember that guys!!!). Telling people to watch their mouths and insinuating that you'd fight them...over the internet...about a comment regarding Steve Kerr's contract, well don't you just look big and tough with your threatening words while you're halfway across the country. This is a forum to talk basketball. Talk basketball. Oh well, enjoy your significant basketball games. I have some family history statistical porn to google and illegally download.

Nitro
If you want to disagree with me fine but don't be a prick and won't have to be one. He wasn't being a prick, he was just explaining why the Kerr thing won't happen, and he did so politely. You're the one who overreacted and was a prick. Even when you were being a prick he was being respectful and thorough, even though he should have just told you to [expletive] yourself. But what exactly am I disagreeing with you about? That Kerr would make a good addition to ESPN? Nobody's arguing that. That Kerr has a contract? You can't disagree that Kerr has a contract. Now let me illegally download my computer nerd stat porn in peace. It helps me get over the fact that I've never played in a significant basketball game in my life (though my team in basketball class during my senior year of undergrad made it to the championship game! Number 2 out of 6! Take that red, white, gold, and black teams!!!)
