Do you think people will still remember about athletes such as Muhammad Ali, Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky ,or video games such as halo, zelda, final fantasy? Do you think we will be long forgotten and only found in the storage compartments of history, assuming humanity is still living?

^outside of the US, no one gives a rat's ass about Ruth lol

I think you focus way too much on what the world thinks, he will be remembered in the US with no doubt. Do you remember the best soccer player from the 1920's? Best golfer? Best hockey player? Yeah, I think Ruth is here to stay...

I am sure none of this will be forgotten because we actually have records of all this, pictures, film, and it all gets passed down. The reason we don't know too much about what happened 600 years ago is because there was no way for people to record things.

I think the point he's trying to make is like will these guys be remembered as all time greats, or will there be a group of people who surpass their achievements so much that they become obsolete

If these sports are still around, I see no reason why these guys wouldn't be remembered by sports fans. The leagues all do a pretty nice job of preserving their history. It's easy to forget how relatively "new" all of these sports are. None have been around for anywhere close to 600 years yet, so I guess we don't have any way of knowing. But I don't see why not.

I mean when you think about people ~500 years ago... Columbus, Pizzaro, Magellan. These guys explored the world, did things otherwise unheard of. Like, nobody knows anyone who wasn't like a King, explorer, etc from 500 years ago. If someone were to be remembered from sports, they'd have to do something just oustanding, and I don't see that happening.

I think it all depends on how many years these leagues are around. As long as they are around, there will be fans, and as long as there are fans, I feel like the legends will be remembered. You make a good point, though. A lot of records will most likely be shattered at some point, but names like Ruth and Gretzky and Jordan are too iconic to just be forgotten, as long as there are sports fans. It's a very interesting thought though.
