Lakers & Sixers discuss Iguodala deal

The 76ers are continuing to explore trade options for Andre Iguodala, and league sources said that a deal with the Lakers involving Lamar Odom has been discussed recently.

While it's unclear whether the deal has real potential or is still alive, it's yet another sign that the Sixers are determined to land an impact player while improving their salary-cap situation in any trade for their second-leading scorer and top defender. Iguodala is owed a combined $44 million for the next three seasons (including $13.5 million next season), while Odom is set to make $8.9 million next season in the final guaranteed year of his contract.

The deal would have to include another Lakers player in order to work under salary-cap rules. One of the sources said the Lakers might include small forward Ron Artest, who will be paid $21.7 million over the next three seasons and has an early-termination option for 2013-14.

So Lamar Odom + Ron Artest for Iguodala? I don't see how this makes any sense for the Sixers. Regardless of the players involved, their motivation to make such a deal would be for immediate cap relief and I seriously doubt they would let their top player go just for that and then take on Ron Artest.

What is the common denominator about every single one of these Iguodala rumors?

None of them make any sense at all for the Sixers...

Seriously, who comes up with these things?

With Mike Brown our head coach, it's starting to make sense why we're going after defensive players. Howard, Iguodala...hmmm.

With Kobe getting older and Ron Artest's play sliding, it makes sense to go after a Iguodala but if they're looking for a defensive stopper then I think they need to go after someone a bit cheaper than Iggy.

trade makes no sense for both teams

we already have a defensive stopper in artest. obviously iggy is younger, more athletic, and he would be an upgrade over artest, but not at the cost of lamar odom as well. this trade doesn't do much for me other than the fact that we made a "change," but i dont see this improving us in anyway if we give up both artest AND odom.

trade doesn't make sense for the sixers either, for obvious reasons.

Don't know about giving up LO just because he makes our bench that much versatility that he can fill in any position when anybody has foul problems.

seriously not only that, when bynum was injured odom filled the spot . and early in the 2010/2011 season when pau was out it was odom that kept the lakers stable.

if this does happen better hope none of the bigs go down. who they got? theo ratliff? joe smith?
