Dash
Minnesota Timberwolves general manager David Kahn has decided to fire coach Kurt Rambis, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Kahn isn’t expected to announce the decision until after Thursday’s NBA draft, but he’s already begun collecting information on prospective replacements for Rambis, sources said. Kahn met with Rambis last week and believes he has reached an impasse with the coach. The relationship between Kahn and Rambis deteriorated over the course of the past season, to the point where there’s been little communication between them. Rambis has two years left on his original four-year contract. With the Timberwolves in the midst of a major rebuilding project, he went 32-132 as their coach, including a league-worst 17-65 this season. Kahn told reporters he’d made the unusual request of asking Rambis to file a written report to him on changes Rambis would make if he returned as coach. He also said Rambis won’t attend the Timberwolves’ draft on Thursday night. Kahn had wanted Rambis to become a better communicator with players. He also wanted him to design an offense away from the triangle and toward the open-court talents of rookie point guard Ricky Rubio(notes). Rambis’ relationship with key young players, especially Kevin Love(notes), had been frayed, at best. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_minnesota_firing_kurt_rambis_062211 I don't get why they waited so damn long to do it. Best coach left is probably Lawrence Frank.
Flash
Lorenzo Romar is apparently a candidate for this job. David Kahn...wow.
Multi-Billionaire
I agree with this move, Rambis is just not a good head coach. Many guys like Del Harris, Marc Iavaroni, Terry Stotts make excellent assistant coaches, but they suck as head coaches. Even if Rambis was an assistant to Phil Jackson for 100 years, I doubt he'd fully grasp the concept of triangle offense. It's complicated enough for students to learn, and when the teacher does not really understand it either, it's chaos. Guy needs to get away from triangle, finds his own style if he wants to be successful.
The Regime
It's official: The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that the team has relieved head coach Kurt Rambis of his coaching duties. "I want to thank Kurt for his contributions to our franchise and wish him the best in his future endeavors," said David Kahn, Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations. "His arrival signaled we were serious about building a championship-contending ballclub over the course of time. We have accumulated a solid nucleus of young talent with a bright future during the last two years. I am hopeful Kurt receives his share of the credit for helping develop that talent and his contributions are not forgotten as we become a better basketball team. "It is always hard to make these decisions. It is especially hard when it involves somebody of Kurt's reputation. Even so, this is the right time for us to make a head coaching change now that we've identified our roster and its specific needs." Rambis was named the ninth head coach of the Timberwolves on Aug. 10, 2009. In his two seasons as head coach of the Wolves, Rambis compiled a 32-132 record. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/214696/Wolves_Fire_Kurt_Rambis

My thought exactly, im sure he knows alot about the triangle but untill you know all of it its just not going to work. Imo he should have realized that he doesnt have the players and he doesnt know the system well enough to run it. He best bet would have been and for the future is building something off of the triangle not trying to master the triangle.
