Dash
I was pretty upset with this pick, mainly because we passed up on Kawhi Leonard and Nikola Vucevic (two players at the top of my draft board) but after sleeping on it I can't say that I'm thrilled but I am intrigued. Morey truly believes that Morris will be able to become a full fledged small forward down the road, and Morris seems to really want to be here (told practically that he wanted to get drafted by us). I wonder if being able to work with Kevin McHale had anything to do with it. Anyways here are a few tidbits on him: “We really like Marcus Morris. We think he was one of the top players in the draft, skilled at both ends,” Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. “He can play the four or a power three, can defend two positions. Owner Real Deal Posted June 24, 2011 Owner Report Share Posted June 24, 2011 People get too obsessed with what position he'll be in the NBA. What do fans say about LeBron James? If he had a post game, he would be the undisputed best player in the NBA. Well, LeBron is a small forward. Regardless of the position he plays, Morris has a post game. The only thing Houston needs to worry about is him not being able to defend PF's or SF's, but that doesn't mean that he can't hit the gym and get much, much stronger. Plus, there's some guy by the name of Charles Barkley that had the same problem on draft night, and then he started playing.

Its the fact that he already has an established post game that intrigues me the most and apparently not half-bad from mid range either. If he can make the transition from power forward to small forward then he has a chance to be really, really good. As for defense... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYoZrBC9WjE
