NomarFachix
Brewers Acquire Francisco RodriguezBy Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 12, 2011 at 10:58pm CST] The Brewers acquired Francisco Rodriguez and cash from the Mets for two players to be named later, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (Twitter links). The Brewers have confirmed the move. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/07/brewers-acquire-francisco-rodriguez.html
Jenneral
Did not see this coming at all. Wow. Now who closes for us... Axford or K-Rod?

Phightins
Did not see this coming at all. Wow. Now who closes for us... Axford or K-Rod? Axford probably. I believe K-Rod needs 21 more "game finishes" this season for his guaranteed $17.5 million option for next season to kick in. So they will be very careful with that. Phightins
That means they traded 2 players for a rental? I don't like that deal at all for them... I don't think any team in their right mind would trade for K-Rod at $17.5 million, plus whatever is remaining for this year.
Phightins
Also, the "players to be named later" don't need to be settled on until after the season. So whether or not that vesting option kicks in will probably help determine who the Mets get...

Who decides that, like what if the brewers give the mets just 2 shit prospects? Or if the Mets have a say in who they get, what if they can't come to an agreement? Phightins
I've wondered about that.. how does that work? Like, the Brewers get K-Rod, and what about the Mets? Who decides that, like what if the brewers give the mets just 2 shit prospects? Or if the Mets have a say in who they get, what if they can't come to an agreement? Yeah, what Kyle said. I believe list of possible guys was exchanged, and now they get something like 150 days to settle on them. I think a lot of factors will play in (K-Rod's performance, whether or not that option kicks in, etc). Jenneral
As long as we don't ever lose T. Plush, I don't care.
fish7718
According to David Waldstein of the New York Times, Francisco Rodriguez's vesting option for 2012 is now considered a mutual option. The Brewers will simply buy out the option for $4 million and be done with it. So, there goes that...
