Lkr
MLS figures: http://mlsattendance.blogspot.com/NHL figures: http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendanceNBA figures: http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance Few points of interest: NHL and NBA each have more teams and more games. Obviously the MLS has way worse TV numbers. However, they are out drawing several NHL and NBA teams without a major media presence! The FIFA Women's World Cup is only helping the popularity grow in the US right now, and with two lockouts, don't be surprised if the MLS completely takes over the NBA or NHL in a few years. Expansion teams like the Portland Timbers are also pulling in exceptional attendance. Edited July 14, 2011 by Rainbow Dash
Lkr
by the way, if you somehow haven't seen this dominate ESPN's top 10 lately, its the most amazing goal I have ever seen: Edited July 14, 2011 by Rainbow Dash
The Great iBoldin
No, the NHL is much more prosperous and popular then the MLS and it's not even close. And I'm a big fan of MLS with the Whitecaps and Timbers coming in.
Phightins
MLS isn't even close, as iBoldin said. Attendance figures are completely irrelevant when teams in one league play less than 20 home games, and teams in the other two play 41. It's about supply and demand. Built Ford Tough
And I'm not going to look it up, but I'm sure ticket prices for MLS games are also considerably cheaper than the NBA and NHL. I know you can get tickets to a Whitecaps game in Vancouver for around 35 bucks, while if you want to go to a Canucks game you are paying at least 100 bucks and that will only get you nosebleed seats (assuming it is a half decent team in town). The Great iBoldin
Whitecaps tickets go as low as 20 bucks, they're really cheap. You can find fairly cheap Canucks tickets on like a Monday night vs. the Devils or something, but expect to pay top dollar for most nights, especially games like Toronto and Montreal.
